Dear Families,
As we approach the Memorial Day weekend, it's a special time for us to honor and remember the brave people who have served our country with dedication and courage. It's also an opportunity to enjoy quality time with our loved ones . Whether you’re planning a family picnic, a quiet day at home, or a visit to a memorial, I hope your weekend is filled with joy and gratitude.I

Field Day!
A Note from Mrs. Grabowski
Field Day is Friday, May 31. Thank you parent volunteers! We could not do this without you. Volunteers please check in at the volunteer table by the tubes on Friday as close to 8:00 a.m. as possible. Parents, if you have not signed up, there are still open slots if you would like to join us.
This year we are excited to announce our fan zone. After the opening ceremonies, we ask our amazing spectators to find a spot on the track to watch the fun. If you want to bring a chair or blanket to sit on, that would be awesome! Feel free to move around the track as your athletes move stations, to get a great view of the games.
Here are some reminders for the kids: kids would benefit from sunscreen, a water bottle, a hat, sunglasses, gym shoes, and a change of clothes (water stations).

Step Up Day
June 5 from 9:45am-10:20am
Families,
Step Up Day is an exciting annual tradition that marks an important milestone for the Burton Blue Jays. It's a day dedicated to helping our students transition smoothly into the next academic year by giving them a sneak peek into what lies ahead. This year, Step Up Day will take place on June 5th, from 9:45am to 10:20am, and we have some exciting plans in store!
During Step Up Day, our students will have the opportunity to meet all the teachers in the grade they will be entering in the fall. This allows them to become familiar with the teachers who will guide them through their next year of learning adventures. While they won't find out their specific classroom teacher just yet (teacher assignments will be shared the week of June 17), this experience lays the foundation for a smooth transition and sets the stage for an exciting new chapter. Students will also have the chance to visit their possible classroom to get a sneak-peak and help ease apprehensions they may have.
During this time, we want to give a warm welcome to new students joining the Burton Elementary community. Step Up Day is a fantastic opportunity for them to get acquainted with their future teachers and classmates, fostering a sense of belonging right from the start.
Burton Lego Club Interest Form!
Interest Form
We are excitedly looking into bringing back a Burton Lego Club for the Fall of 2024! Please let us know if your child would be interested in joining. The group will begin meeting once a week for an hour immediately after school from mid September and will continue until early December with 8 total weeks. A few weeks will be skipped based on holidays and school closings.
Please note that this will be different than the Lego Robotics Team that was run a couple of years ago. The group will explore creativity, physics, and teamwork through age appropriate, weekly build tasks. The weekly build tasks are being organized and created by a Burton parent.
We can only make this happen with parent help! This will be volunteer led and run. The lead parent will have the ability to choose a day of the week that suits their schedule best.
Fill out the form below if interested.
Please fill out a form for each child if you have multiple children interested.
Please email ELHiggins@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.
