Hadley Band Veterans Day Performance
On Veterans Day, the Hadley Jr. High 7th Grade Bands delivered a heartfelt performance during a Veterans Day Assembly, bringing together students, parents, district administration, Board of Education members, and the community to honor our nation's heroes. The assembly included inspirational words from Mr. Peter Baker, current Assistant Principal at Glenbard West and a Hadley alumni, as well as Mr. Tim Lofgren, retired District 41 educator and administrator. Each shared their own experiences and insights, or that of family members who served in the military.
The 7th Grade Bands captivated the audience with renditions of Liberty Square March, The Star Spangled Banner, Marches of the Armed Forces, and American Declaration. This event served as a meaningful tribute to the veterans in attendance, recognizing their sacrifices and contributions to our country. It was a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together and show appreciation for those who have served. Thank you to everyone who participated in making this assembly a memorable occasion!
Superintendent Student Advisory Council
Superintendent Dr. Jeff McHugh held the first Superintendent Student Advisory Council (SSAC) meeting earlier this week. The SSAC includes the three 8th grade student Board of Education members, three 7th graders, three 6th graders, and two 5th grade students from each elementary school. The mission of the council is to provide feedback and inform the superintendent of happenings across the district from a student perspective. The council will meet three more times this school year.
Parent Safety Session with Sergeant Holstead
Glen Ellyn Police Department Sergeant Craig Holstead will present a parent safety session in the Hadley Junior High Library Media Center on Wednesday, November 20 at 6:30 p.m. Sergeant Holstead will share information about safety in District 41 and provide information about emergency response procedures. He will also provide a brief training for parents/community members on the Run. Hide. Fight protocol that the district also teaches students and staff in all school buildings.
No RSVP necessary. All are welcome!
Forest Glen's One Earth Club Recycling Efforts
Forest Glen's One Earth Environmental Club hosted EcoShip and GoGreen Glen Ellyn to learn about the importance of plastics in our environment. EcoShip collects shipping materials from Chicagoland communities and distributes them to businesses and individuals for reuse. Forest Glen students were shocked by the amount of packaging their on-line purchases create. Businesses like EcoShip help reduce the amount of reusable resources going to landfills.
