Cody Counseling Corner
November Edition
October Reflection
We celebrated the month by supporting National Bullying Prevention Month, where PK-2nd grade students listened to the stories Llama Llama and the Bully Goat., and Henry B. Wigglebottom Learns About Bullies. They then drew pictures showing ways to be a Buddy to Llama, not a Bully and a picture of how they can be brave when dealing with bullies. The 3rd-5th grade students embarked on a book series titled The Weird Series. After listening to the first two books (Book 3 will begin the first week of November), students learned the definition of bullying and they learned how to be an upstander, not a bystander.
We then celebrated Red Ribbon Week. We loved seeing all of our Cody Colts staff and students participate with the dress up days. Our younger students, PK-3rd learned about medicine safety after reading the story Sarah's Sick Day and our 4th and 5th grade students learned about the dangers and consequences of vaping and smoking. The students also met McGruff, the Crime Dog, during our Red Ribbon Presentation from our SAPD Officers, where they learned the importance of "Just Saying NO" to drugs!
We ended the month with our Trunk-or-Treat and Fall Festival which was a success! Mrs. Aguinaga, Ms. Gomez, Coach Gavin, and myself had a great time sporting some of the Inside Out Characters. We also enjoyed seeing our little Cody Colts dressed up in their awesome costumes as well as seeing all of the smiles on our families faces!
We are excited that October is over and we look forward to a new month full of brand new lessons for our students.
