Weekly Message
Welcome to Parent-Teacher Conference Week
Next week is our CEPS Parent-Teacher Conference Week. Your child's classroom teacher will invite you (or already has) to meet either in-person at school or virtually (your preference) at some point next week. It is very important that you please try and find a day and time that works in your schedule to meet, as our teachers are prepared to share what your child has been working on so far this year, strengths, and goals for their work in the classroom, along with answering questions you might have. One key piece of feedback we heard from families last year in the district-wide family survey is a desire to hear about what their child is working on in school, and how they are progressing: this is an opportunity to do just that! Fall parent-teacher conferences are one of four formal "check-points" during the year that we communicate progress with all families, which also includes winter report cards, spring parent-teacher conferences, and end-of-year report cards in June. If you are finding it challenging to make a day/time this coming week work, please connect directly with the teacher, as they are happy to work with you and your schedule the best they can.
Speaking of teachers, let's give a big shout-out. Next week is a marathon for CEPS staff. Not only are they doing the important work of teaching students, but also preparing for, and leading conferences during their planning time during the day, and after school hours. We are happy to provide this flexibility for you, because we know how important it is to connect about your child, but we are also all ready for a good break by the end of the week! Thank you, teachers, for all your work this week!
And of course, thank you families! Thank you for your investment in your child's education, which not only includes taking advantage of parent-teacher conference week, but also the ongoing communication you have with your child's teachers, the work you do reading with your child and getting them to school on time, and for the trust you place in us in supporting all of our Spartan Star students. Although our teachers are fully prepared to walk you through your child's progress, you may also consider preparing yourself in advance: Feel free to read THESE TIPS TO MAKE THE MOST OF PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES and/or THESE EXAMPLE QUESTIONS TO ASK AT PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES, both from understood.org.

The FEC is a group of caregivers who meet at least monthly in the evening with Aaron Tarnutzer, District Administrator, and Brittany Brazzel, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Coordinator. These meetings are an opportunity to lift the voices of our current students and families by providing the district with direct feedback and collaborating to increase feelings of belonging. Embrace the Fall Spirit with McFarland DECA!
We're excited to announce our participation in Wisconsin's DECA Fall Food Drive Event!
Starting on Wednesday, October 18th through October 25th, we're hosting a community-wide food drive to celebrate the beauty of fall and support our community!
On October 25th, our dedicated McFarland DECA members will be hitting the streets, going door-to-door from 4-7 pm to collect your non-perishable food items.
All the products we gather will be a warm and comforting contribution to the McFarland Food Pantry, helping our neighbors in need during this cozy season.
Let's gather the bounty of this beautiful season and share it with those in our community who could use a little extra warmth. Join us in making a positive impact this fall!
