A Note from the Superintendent
December 20, 2024
Dear FSD 157-C Families and Staff,
As we approach the winter break, I want to take a moment to recognize the growth and accomplishments of our students over the past semester. Their efforts across academics, the arts, athletics, and extracurricular activities have been noteworthy, reflecting the dedication and hard work of both our students and staff.
Academically, our students have made significant strides, engaging with challenging subjects and achieving strong results. From innovative classroom projects to assessments, they have demonstrated their commitment to learning. These accomplishments are a testament to the collaborative efforts of our students, teachers, and staff in fostering a culture of academic excellence.
Outside the classroom, this semester has been marked by achievements in performing arts, athletics, and various student organizations. Our students have excelled in concerts and showcases, while our athletic teams have demonstrated teamwork and perseverance in their competitions. Additionally, participation in after-school clubs has allowed students to explore their interests, build skills, and contribute to our school community in meaningful ways.
As we enter the winter break, I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to rest and recharge. School will resume on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, and we look forward to continuing the important work of supporting our students’ success. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in making our schools a place of growth and achievement.
Sincerely,
Doug Wernet, Ed.D.

Over the course of two weeks, special education teacher, Kristen Walenga, shared her story of survival and the role that her then 7th grade son, and District 157c, played in that story. Mrs. Walenga educated our staff on hands-free CPR and AED devices. Her story reminded us that anyone can play a role in helping someone survive!

Virtual Backpack
Frankfort School District 157-C utilizes a more environmentally friendly and efficient method for sharing information. Flyers, posters, and media from district schools, non-profit organizations, intergovernmental agencies, and approved business partners are available on our "Virtual Backpack" webpage. This approach replaces the traditional practice of sending materials home via students' backpack mail, ensuring easier access and reduced paper waste.
