September Family Newsletter
Kendall Elementary Family Newsletter September 2023
We are off to a fantastic start!
It is hard to believe we are already in September! We are enjoying watching students settle into routines and being engaged in the classroom learning. Our teachers are so excited to be getting to know your children! In August, we finished our fall I-Ready diagnostic testing. Teachers are using that as one of their data points to meet each individual student need. In the winter, we will take another round to see how much your child has grown.
Important Reminders
- No School, Monday 9/4, in observance of Labor Day.
- As the weather continues to change, please be sure to check the forecast and send your child with appropriate clothing for recess, especially as the mornings turn chillier.
- Our first e-learning day is Friday, 9/22. Your child's teacher will communicate their expectations about the day when it gets closer but there will not be live meets this day.
- Second Harvest is 9/13 from 4:30-6 in the gym. Please bring a bag and a wagon, if you have one, as it makes it easier to transport your items to your car.
- College Go Week is September 25-29. This will be our first spirit week for the school year. A flyer will be sent home and posted to our Facebook page as we get closer to the week.
- Fall Break is October 16-20.
- If your child is going to be absent, please call the school office each day so that we can mark the reason for the absence. If the office does not receive a call then the absence is marked as unexcused.

Important Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
Morning Drop Off
Car riders will drop off in the morning through the Justice parking lot beginning at 7:20. For the safety of students, cars are not permitted to drop off in the front parking lot or the bus drop off lane. At 7:45, the drop off lane closes and parents will need to drive to the main parking lot, park, and sign their student in. Please be in the car line by 7:40 as the student is marked tardy if they are not in their classroom by 7:45. Arriving by 7:40 gives them time to walk in, grab breakfast, and get to class. For the safety of all students, no parent or guardian is permitted to enter the building past the foyer office window at any time during arrival and dismissal.
Car riders at Dismissal
Car riders will be picked up through the Justice parking lot along the sidewalk by door 7 starting at 2:15. At 2:25, the pick up lane closes and the parent or guardian will need to come to the front office to pick up the student.
Walkers at Dismissal
No student will be permitted to be picked up in cars on the walker side. Students picked up in cars will be required to go to the car pickup line at Justice. This is an important change from last year as student safety will always be our number one priority.
Do you need a different dismissal method today?
We understand that there are times when a student needs to dismiss a different way than what they normally do. When a dismissal change is needed, please contact the school by 1pm so that we can communicate the change and accommodate appropriately.
From the Nurse's Office
Just a reminder to make sure your child's immunizations are up to date. You can call your student's doctor or the Health Department at 765-651-2401. We will also be having a School Immunization Clinic September 20th from 5:00-7:00pm at Marion High School. You may call the school nurse with any questions.
The goal for our monthly newsletter is to keep our families up to date with what's happening in the life of our school. Thank you for trusting your student with us each and everyday as we provide high quality education through a variety of different means. Here's to a great September!
Sincerely,
Mr. Gregory Miller
Assistant Principal
