BHS Happenings

We have a busy week ahead at BHS! We hope that we will see all of you during Parent Teacher Conferences on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Please visit My Conference Time to sign up for your time slot(s). Just a reminder that all students will be dismissed at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week.

It is great to see all of the school spirit here today at BHS! We have lots of bikers and surfers walking the halls today and look forward to even more student participation as the week goes on. Let's make this Homecoming Week the best one yet!

Quarter 1 will end tomorrow, Tuesday, October 29th. Report cards will be available on your PowerSchool Parent Portal on Monday, November 4th.

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held October 30 -31, 2024 . This is a great opportunity to conference with your child's teachers at the end of Quarter 1. Below is the schedule for conferences:

• October 30th: 12:45 - 2:50 p.m.
• October 30th: 5:00 - 7:30 p.m.
• October 31st: 12:45 - 2:50 p.m.

Conferences will be in person, but we ask all parents to register for their time slots on My Conference Time, so teachers can better prepare to discuss your child. If you need for your conference to be virtual, please reach out to the teacher prior to your scheduled conference to make arrangements for a virtual option. You can schedule meetings with all of your child's teachers or just select ones. Time Slots for conferences are ten minutes. Parents who do not register on My Conference Time, will have to wait for an available slot to conference, as those previously scheduled will take priority. My Conference Time will be open for sign ups on Monday, October 21st at 7:00 a.m.

Homecoming Spirit Week is October 28 - November 2, 2024 at BHS! It is a fun filled week filled with a daily dress down theme. Spirit Week dress downs are $2 per day or $8 for the entire week. On Friday, there will be a Pep Rally during school followed by the Homecoming Football Game vs Lewis Mills at 6:30 p.m. Admission to the game is $5 and all tickets are sold on Go Fan. No cash will be accepted at the gate. Spirit Week will conclude with the Homecoming Dance on Saturday from 7-11 p.m. The theme of the dance is Red Carpet and the cost is $10. School pictures are now ready! To order, log in to your account on mylifetouch.com or create an account using your student's student ID number. All families can also log on and order a FREE Digital SmileSafe card. If your child was absent on school picture day, there will be a make-up day on December 3rd.

Sophomore Junior College Planning Night will take place on Tuesday, November 19th at 6:00 p.m. in the BHS Library Media Center. We encourage all parents of sophomore and juniors to attend this important informational evening and learning more about the college process. Senior year will be here before you know it and it is best to be prepared with all the information you need regarding: the college application process, financial aid, finding the right college for your student, etc.

Girls Soccer:

• On Wednesday, October 23rd, BHS' Varsity Girls Soccer Team fell to Newington, 0-6.

Boys Soccer:

• On Friday, October 25th, BHS' Varsity Boys Soccer Team fell to New Britain, 0-3.

Girls Volleyball:

• On Wednesday, October 23rd, BHS' Varsity Girls Volleyball Team defeated Academy of International Studies, 3-1.

Football:

• On Saturday, October 26th, BHS' Varsity Football Team defeated Northwest Catholic, 34-21. Touchdowns for the Warhawks were scored by: Marlon Britton (3), Zakyi Kimber (1), and Zion Banton (1).

BHS Junior, D'Asia Duncan is currently in Bahrain representing Team USA for the Bahrain Gymnasiade 2024 from October 23-31, 2024. This event brings together an estimated 5,400 athletes and coaches from over 70 countries to compete in 26 sports. D'Asia will compete in the 400 hurdles and relays on the track, but will also get the opportunity to participate in inspiring workshops and seminars, take unforgettable cultural visits and interact with peers from around the world.
