After-School Info
Family Staff Organization (FSO)
Final Family-Staff Organization (FSO) Meeting of the Year: Please come to the final FSO meeting of the year this Thursday in the library. We will have three special guests from the University of Minnesota Department of Pediatrics | Youth and AIDS Projects present on "How to Talk to Young People about Sexual Health and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)." Worried about the information (or disinformation) your kids are getting from online sources and their peers? You are not alone. Come become more informed and learn with other family members who share your worries!
We will also celebrate the successes FSO had this year! The generosity of our community has allowed us to fund every request - and we'll take a final vote on funding requests for the end of this year and into the beginning of next year.
It will also be our final look at progress on 1) the School Continuous Improvement Plan (SCIP) - a document which sets forth goals on improving academic performance and 2) the School-Parent Compact - which highlights ways that the school and families can work together to improve outcomes for our students. Your feedback is needed for both of these documents.
If you've never been to an FSO meeting - this is a great one to come to for the first time! Please email or call our Family Liaison, Wendy Caucutt, at wendy.caucutt@spps.org or 651-744-2007 with any questions.

Family Engagement - Keep Connected 360
Keep Connected Family Engagement Partnership with Search Institute and Change Inc.:
As you might be aware, Hidden River has partnered with Search Institute and Change Inc. to offer the Keep Connected program to students and their families this year. Keep Connected offers resources to families, including tips, ideas, activities and learning opportunities to support strong family relationships.
Family Talk Starters - This Week’s Focus: Inspire each other to see possibilities for the future. This is a great way to EXPAND POSSIBILITIES through family relationships.
When you have a few minutes, ask other family members a question or two. Enjoy the conversation!
- What has inspired you to try something new? (It could be something you saw, read, heard, felt, etc.)
- Who is someone who looks up to you (no matter your age or their age)? What are you doing (or could you do) to inspire them to be their best?
What are ways you and your family can help to make your neighborhood or community better in the future?
Please help us improve Family Talk Sparks by completing this short survey by June 10th. For your time you will be entered to win one of two $25 Amazon gift cards!
