Principal's Message
Dear Families,
It was another busy week at Pershing Middle School ! Our was able to see some of our amazing sixth grade musicians perform with Lewis' and Patrick Henry's band and orchestra at the Henry Cluster Sixth Grade Concert. Click on the video link below to hear the joint performance by Pershing, Lewis, and the Patrick Henry Orchestras. A big thank you to our music director Ms. Rebeca Tamez for coordinating this event.
All four of our middle school athletic teams competed in the playoffs over the weekend and we are so proud of how they performed. A big congratulations to our Girls' Volleyball team on advancing to next week's finals as the #2 seed!
And finally, a representative from Camp Cuyamaca met with our sixth graders to go over what they can expect when they go to camp in April or June. Camp will be here before we know it, if you have not done so already, please make sure your child submits their pink health form to the main office. All students going to camp must have a completed health form for Camp Cuyamaca on file.
Sincerely,
Melanie Kray
P3 GRADING WINDOW ENDS THIS FRIDAY
I also wanted to remind families that the P3 reporting window ends this Friday, March 1. It is normal to see some grade fluctuations during this first six weeks of the second semester and we want to encourage student to avoid the second semester slum and take advantage of the supports we have available. There is tutoring afterschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays:
- Rm 303: Math (Ms. E)
- Rm. 103: SLIM/Spanish/History (Mr. Lopez)
- Rm. 101: English (Mr. Quinn)
- Rm. 305: English/History (Ms. Robe)
Many teachers also offer tutoring assistance during lunch and all teachers are available during office hours every Wedensday from 12:45-1:15 PM during office hours. And of course there is homework help every Wednesday in the library from 1:15-2:45 PM.
GIRLS SCOUT COOKIE SALES IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL
Many of our students participate in Girl Scouts and representatives from the different troops our students' participate in will have a small table set up after school in front of the school for the next few weeks so families and students can purchase cookies.
CALIFORNIA HEALTHY KIDS SURVEY FOR PARENTS:
Families please take a moment to complete the parent survey for this year's California Healthy Kids Survey. The information you provide is critical and helps our site determine areas of need and how to allocate resources. Our goal is 80% parent participation:

Tdap VACCINATION NEEDED FOR ALL FUTURE 7th GRADERS
A friendly reminder that before students can enter 7th grade they need a Tdap booster. We know how challenging it can be to get appointments so if your child is currently in 6th grade don't forget to ask your physician about scheduling their Tdap booster.
SPORTS PHOTOS FOR THE YEARBOOK
Yearbook needs your help. We are including the Pershing sports teams in the yearbook but we need pictures. If you happen to have any pictures that we can use, please sent them our way. We have plenty of track pictures. We are still in need of both girls and boys basketball as well as the new sports that are starting, soccer and volleyball. You can email your photos to sruckle@sandi.net. Any photos you have will be helpful. Thanks in advance for your help and support.
