.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this letter finds you and your family well. I am excited to share that we’ve had a fantastic start to the school year here at John Glenn, and I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education.
From the very first day, the energy and enthusiasm from both our students and staff have been truly inspiring. It’s been wonderful to see students settling into their routines, building new friendships, and engaging deeply with their learning. The collaborative spirit that is so central to our school community is alive and thriving!
I’m also pleased to report that our new initiatives, such as no cellphones in the classroom, introduction of new clubs and activities and new additions to our teaching and administrative staff are already showing great promise, and we’ve received positive feedback from students, parents, and teachers alike. We are committed to providing a rich and supportive environment where every student can succeed, and we will continue to work hard to ensure that every child feels safe, valued, and challenged.
As we move forward into the school year, I encourage you to stay connected with us. Whether it’s through attending upcoming events, volunteering, or simply keeping in touch with your child’s progress, your involvement makes a significant difference. Together, we can make this year is one of growth, achievement, and joy for our students.
Please feel free to reach out to me or any of our staff if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas. We are here to work alongside you in supporting your child's academic and personal growth. I look forward to all that we will accomplish together this year.
Warm regards,
Scott Kelley

MiSTAR APP
Great news! For your ease and convenience, there is an app that has been created to have quick access to your Parent and Student Connection. In your Google App or Play store, type in “MiStar” and you will have the option to download the “Q ParentConnection” app for yourself and also the “Q StudentConnection” app for your child. I downloaded it and found it to be very easy to use. The convenience of having an app, rather than locating the website and looking up my PIN and password each time was great. I highly recommend downloading if you have a device.
If you get the app, you can select the “Re-Enrollment” in the drop down menu to submit your information that way as well.

Attendance
Regular attendance is crucial for your child's academic success. Please make every effort to ensure your child attends school on time every day and stays throughout the whole day. Consistent attendance throughout the school day allows your child to engage in learning and maximize their educational opportunities fully.
Illness: If your child is not feeling well and cannot attend school, please notify us immediately. Students who are ill should not attend school to prevent the spread of illness to others.
Excused Absences: We understand that there may be instances when your child needs to be absent due to illness, medical appointments, family emergencies, or other legitimate reasons. Please notify the school in advance whenever possible to classify the absence as excused.
Unexcused Absences: Unexcused absences negatively impact your child's education. Absences without valid reasons will be considered unexcused, and appropriate actions may be taken per district policy.
Timely reporting of absences helps us maintain accurate attendance records and ensures that your child's absence is properly documented. Absences must be reported within 24 hours.
There are two convenient methods for reporting your child's absence to facilitate efficient communication and accurate attendance records.
You can notify your child's school through the dedicated attendance line. Please leave a detailed message stating your child's name, grade, and reason for absence.
You can report absences directly through MiStar, our secure online portal for student information. MiStar provides a user-friendly interface that allows you to submit absences.
Thank you for your ongoing support in creating a positive and productive learning environment for all our students.
