Hearts and Hands Donations Update
We are excited to share an update on our ongoing Hearts and Hands Chapel Offering! Our students’ generous contributions through this offering are now directly supporting the Youth Fund at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, following a recent vote by the Church Council.
The Youth Fund plays an important role in our church’s ministry, providing support for local outreach and programs such as the local food bank, Vacation Bible School, and the revival of our children’s ministry here at Good Shepherd. This offering is a wonderful way for our children to actively participate in giving back to the community in ways they can easily understand and relate to.
While this is not the typical 10% tithing referenced in the Bible, the purpose of this offering is deeply rooted in the values of ministry and service. We want to encourage our children to give as they feel led, knowing that their contributions, no matter the size, make a real difference in the lives of others.
We also invite you and your family to join us for worship every Sunday at 10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. This is a wonderful opportunity to witness the impact of our children’s generosity firsthand and to celebrate the ways God is working through them to bless our community.
Thank you for your continued support and for encouraging your children to be part of this meaningful mission.
Chapel Themes and Reminders
Remember, every Wednesday is Chapel, and we’re continuing our Hearts and Hands offerings! We encourage students to bring offerings each week. To make this a fun and positive experience, students can decorate their offering envelopes based on the weekly theme. While bringing an offering is not required, we hope everyone will join in the spirit of giving!
Below are the chapel themes for the month of October:
- The Red Sea (2nd)
- A Message from God (9th)
- The Battle of Jericho (16th)
- Naomi and Ruth (23rd)
- David and Goliath (30th)
We can’t wait to see everyone’s creativity!
Food Pantry Donations
We’re excited to share that we gathered a lot of food to donate to the Bastrop County Food Pantry! Every contribution helps in the fight against childhood hunger, and we’re proud to support such a vital cause. Thank you to everyone who contributed!
We’ve decided, along with the church, to extend the donation time through October, so we can donate as much as possible to help end childhood hunger in our own neighborhoods. Let’s keep the momentum going!

There are future service projects coming soon to continue giving back to the community including a food drive and collaborating with other non-profits, like Feed the Need.
We will be setting up a scholarship fund, so more information will be sent out about that soon. We want our school to be as accessible as possible, and this fund will be able to aid in meeting that goal through generous donations.
Our next School Board meeting will be on October 16th at 4pm in the chapel.

Art at a Glance
October is here! We are doing so many autumn themed art projects.
Although the art is revolving around the season, we have been doing
projects inspired by famous artists and applying their signature
techniques to our work.
We have already completed our Romero Britto inspired pumpkins, and
they turned out wonderfully! Ask your child about the famous artists they
are learning about each week in Art!
Art Club is doing fantastic, and we have enjoyed a lot of watercolor
painting this last month! This month I plan on doing more paper crafts
such as collages and torn paper scenery!
Please come join us for our next Art Walk, October 4th at 6:30 P.M.

“Boo-lieve In Jesus” candy grams. We will be continuing our very successful candy grams for October. The children really enjoyed this last year. $1 per “Boo-lieve In Jesus” gram that can be sent to their friends, teachers, staff, or parents who would love to send a gram. The PTL does send a gram to every child. For our littles not just ready for those sugary treats, we choose an alternative that is more age appropriate.
We are also needing volunteers to assemble.
Fall Fest Saturday, November 9th Back 9 Bar
Each class will have a basket theme. A box with list will be sent out and attached to box. We ask our students/parents assistance to getting those items to then be auctioned off. We would like champion for each class to assist in keeping this organized, and keep parents updated with any needed items.
Looking for Sponsors to help with Face Painting, Cake Walk, Petting Zoo, along with donation items to be auctioned off.
We hope you noticed the new trash receptacles in the cafeteria and diaper pals in the infant/toddler classes. The intent was to have larger, more concealment of the waste and while not removing quick access. The diaper pals have provided improved odor concealment, locking ability to keep curious hands out, along with flexibility to use any type of trash bag.
Child Nutrition

Raise a More Confident Child
What is confidence and why is it important?
We want our kids to do better, go further, and achieve more than we have. We want them to believe in themselves and that they're worthy of the things they want out of life. The good news is that self-confidence and self-esteem are things kids can practice and build on, with your help and guidance. Self-confidence and self-esteem are often confused as being the same thing. They are similar in that they both have to do with how you feel about yourself.
Self-esteem is a measure of how you feel about yourself in general. Self-confidence comes from feeling confident in your abilities, that you are capable. Self-esteem and self-confidence are not about thinking you're better than others, but they describe a sense of security in who you are, that you have self-worth, and that you're able to handle anxious thoughts or challenges as they arise.
Confident children:
- Feel secure (as opposed to insecure).
- Know they have the ability to handle challenges.
- Feel prepared to tackle things like tests, performances, and competitions.
- Are focused on what they can do rather than what they can't.
Tips for Raising a Confident Child
1. Be a coach.
A coach gives guidance and advice from the sidelines but isn't the one playing the game. As a parent, you are a coach. It's your job to support and cheer your child on, to let them discover what they care most about and wants to explore, and work with them to overcome challenges and problem-solve when things are hard.
2. Focus on the process rather than the outcome.
Let her learn from their mistakes when they're young and the stakes are low.
3. Build independence.
As hard as it is sometimes, letting your child do age-appropriate things without your help will show her you believe they are capable, and you trust in their ability. Let them know you'll be there to help if they have a question - but resist the urge to take over or remove obstacles before they can try on their own.
4. Provide support.
Think of confidence as something you and your child are building together. Support them as they take baby steps toward building more and more confidence. You can do this by showing them how to do something and then watching them as she does it. The idea is that you give them the tools they need so they feel like they can overcome challenges on their own.
