Goals for the New Year
There is always so much talk of New Year's Resolutions as we close one year and enter the next. These resolutions often begin with words like "lose," "quit," or another negative declaration of change. Why begin our new year with a term or phrase that indicates the year before had an aspect of failure? Shifting to a mindset of growth is a great way to start the new year for all ages!
I believe it is important to teach children about setting goals using positive words and feelings. Reading is a great way to begin setting those goals! Annual goals allow mini goals along the way and celebrating those successes can be really motivating. If reading an overall quantity isn't appealing there are other options like new-to-you authors, reading books related to specific topics, or reading a genre you don't typically pick. No matter the goal, keep it positive and have fun!
We will help you along the way! Starting January 8th we'll kick off our "Sweater Weather Reading Challenge." During the summer months we will hold our annual summer reading program. There are many programs and clubs to join throughout the year. We hope to see you often and cheer you on in your 2024 goals.
Happy goal setting!!
