Inside Riverside
May 13, 2024
Can you believe this is the last week of the 2023-2024 school year? The last day for students is Thursday, May 16th. It has been a great school year watching our students grow and I appreciate all the support from our RES families and community partners. I am looking forward to an extraordinary 2024-2025 school year. Please review the uniform policy for next school year below.
Thank you for having your Riverside Car Tags visible in the afternoon carline. Please remember, this school procedure was put in place to ensure safety for all our students. If you do not have a RES car tag visible, then you must come to the office to receive your child and get another car tag. Thank you again for your help with this.
The parish is still working to enclosing Riverside, so there will be construction taking place around the perimeter of the building.
Remember to check our Riverside website throughout the summer for announcements and information including our RES Parent Handbook.
Remember, the school day begins each day at 7:25 and ends at 2:50. If you arrive after 7:25, please park and walk your child to the office to check in.
Thank you for supporting our school!

Riverside Principal

- The Shreveport Police Officer(s) assigned to our school patrols the campus daily.
- The school engages in school-wide emergency drills (fire drills, shelter-in-place drills, lockdown drills, tornado drills).
- All classroom doors remain locked throughout the day.
- Security cameras monitor our facility.
- Any adult checking out a student is required to show their valid ID.
Additional Safety and Security Measures:
- Perimeter fence and doors are currently being added to our facility.
- Caddo Parish Security Department has provided our school with metal detecting wand to use for random searches as needed
Please reach out to Mrs. Hobson with any questions or concerns about safety and security.

School Uniforms
Please see Riverside's Uniform Policy for the 2024-25 school year pictured here. This policy will be enforced next school year. Please remember that sweaters, sweatshirts, jackets, and coats must be solid colors. We changed this based on feedback from parents. Riverside sweatshirts and t-shirts may be worn daily with uniform bottoms. Shorts, pants, jumpers, and skirts should only be navy or khaki. No black tops or bottoms should be worn any longer. Thank you for your help to ensure students are wearing the appropriate uniform to school each day.
We Care School
Riverside is excited to be a "We Care" school through Community Renewal. We are working to establish a "Culture of Caring" daily at our school. Students and staff are on the lookout for Rams demonstrating caring acts. When a Ram is caught caring, he or she will be recognized using our "Caught You Caring" cards. We have also divided our school into three Krewes: The Krewe of Caring, The Krewe of Peace, and the Krewe of Respect. The Krewe of Respect won our first challenge but overall Riverside collected over 700 pounds of food for the Northwest Louisiana Food Bank. The Krewe of Caring won our second challenge by collecting the most hats, scarves, and gloves for our community. The Krewe of Peace won our Third Nine Weeks competition and had a bubble and popsicle party to celebrate. Our Fourth Nine Weeks celebration will be a popcorn and movie party which will be held this week.
Carpool Procedures
Morning Drop Off/Carpool Reminders
*The carline will run down the entire length of the driveway. Please pull all the way forward so we can get as many cars off the street as possible and expedite the drop-off process. School staff will be on duty and in position to direct students as they exit their vehicles.
*Breakfast will be served from 7:05-7:20. Students must be in their classroom by 7:25 or they are tardy.
*Students arriving at 7:25 or later will need to be signed in by a parent/guardian in the office. Please park and walk your child to the office if you arrive late.
Dismissal Reminders
*Dismissal for ECSE classes will take place at 2:15 in the front carline.
*Dismissal for all PreK-5th students will begin at 2:50.
*All PreK-3rd grade car riders will be picked up at the front carpool line and all 4th and 5th car riders will be picked up at the back car line. Siblings will remain with their grade level.
*Walkers will meet in the cafeteria. Once all walkers have arrived, the duty personnel will walk all walkers to the crosswalk. The duty personnel will stop the carpool line and monitor these students as they walk across the crosswalk to meet a parent/guardian or move to the sidewalk to walk home.
*All parents of students who do not ride a bus and are not approved walkers (students that walk to and from their home to school) must use the carpool line.
