We've had another great week in Raider Nation! Our 7th grade students attended the districtwide Career Fair, where they explored a wide range of career opportunities. It was an exciting experience for them to learn about different fields and think about their futures.

This week, we also celebrated World Kindness Day, spreading positivity and kindness throughout our school community. We were thrilled to have visits from several community members and district representatives who joined us in this celebration.

Parents, we’ve noticed a few behavior challenges among some students recently. We kindly ask for your support in having conversations with your children about the importance of respectful behavior at school. Please take time to discuss conflict resolution, positive classroom and bus behavior, and the importance of seeking help from an adult if they encounter any difficulties with friends. Your partnership in reinforcing these expectations at home is invaluable and greatly appreciated.

Looking ahead to next week, we’re excited to keep things moving in a positive direction! On Tuesday, November 19th, we will be holding our School Improvement Council Meeting. We encourage all interested parents and community members to attend. For those unable to join in person, a Zoom link is provided below.

Leader in Me Overview

The "Leader in Me" Habit #3 is "Put First Things First" which means organizing and executing around your most important priorities. It is living and being driven by the principles you value most, not by the agendas and forces surrounding you. Success in life and at work starts with the one thing you can control above all else—yourself.

Leader in Me Habit 3 Parent Guide:

• Use a planner: A planner can help children stay organized and avoid last-minute tasks.

  
  

• Write down responsibilities: Writing down responsibilities and planning ahead can help children avoid missed events, homework, and trips to the store.

  
  

• Model the behavior: Show your children how to put first things first by setting an example.

  
  

• Use a clock for a schedule: A clock can help children keep a schedule.

We are celebrating Native American Heritage to recognize the achievements and contributions of Native American champions who have inspired others to achieve success.

8th grade honoring Veteran’s day

7th grade Vision Screens November 21, 2024.

The Lions Club will be at Rawlinson Road Middle School to provide FREE vision screenings to all 7th graders. Please read the attached letter regarding information. If you do not want your child to be screened, please complete the opt-out form in the letter or contact the school nurse at (803) 981-1527.

Dental Access Carolina December 13, 2024.

Dental Access Carolina mobile van will be at Rawlinson Road Middle School on December 13, 2024 to complete routine hygiene for students who completed and returned consent forms. Please call the school nurse if you have any questions.

The Fall Sports Banquet, recognizing football and volleyball athletes, will be on Monday, November 25th at 6:00pm in the Raider Auditorium.

Save the Date! RRMS Winter Family Literacy Night!

December 10th @ 5 pm - 7 pm

The Rawlinson Road Middle School Chapter of the National Beta Club will be inviting new members to join in January 2025. Membership is based first on academics, requiring a 3.5 GPA at the end of 1st semester. Behavior is then reviewed as no student can hold membership if they have out-of-school suspension. If your child has made As and Bs so far this semester, there is a good chance you'll see an invitation in the mail. Talk to your student about the advantages of Beta Club Membership. Check out our by-laws and the National Beta Club website.

• School Start Time: 8:15 a.m. Supervision begins at 7:45 a.m.
• Drop-Off Location: Car riders should be dropped off at the back of the school.
• Student Supervision: Staff will assist students from buses and cars to their grade-level hallways.
• Afternoon Dismissal: Please let your child know whether they will be a car rider or bus rider in the afternoon so we can direct them accordingly. Do not park in the Northwestern parking lot (near the baseball field) to wait for RRMS students.
• Cell Phones: No cell phones allowed during the school day. Students are not allowed to record or take pictures on school grounds, including the bus.
