On Thursday night our 6th through 8th grade students put on a delightful production of Found! The Musical. The production was written by Mr. Bryant and included a poem by Mrs. Horn. Watching the students perform reminded me of all of the great opportunities we have for students to engage with activities that peek their interest at Paonia K-8 and in our community.

Please keep an eye out in our school calendar and the After School Activities folder, linked at the bottom of the newsletter, for information on activities including:

• PK-8 middle school sports
• PK-8 competitions including Knowledge Bowl, Math Counts, Destination Imagination, and Science Olympiad
• PK-8 music and theatre productions
• Community Pee Wee programs, including basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, soccer, football, and volleyball
• Community after-school programs from The Paonia Library, The Blue Sage Center for the Arts, Paonia Players, Families Plus, and other organizations.

If you are the organizer of an activity for students you may provide us with a flier to include in our After School Activities folder. Contact the school office for more information.

Although we may live in a small community, there is an abundance of activities for students to be involved with. Please take advantage of these opportunities to expose your students to a variety of interests.

K-5 Costumes on Thursday, October 31

--K-5 students are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes to school on Thursday, October 31. 6-8 students will have worn their costumes to the Halloween Dance, so should not wear their costume to school on October 31.

--Students will not be allowed to change once they get to school. Please respect the school dress code, and remember no weapons, blood, guts, face paint, or masks. Hats are okay. We encourage costumes that align with storybook characters.

K-5 Classroom Halloween parties are on Thursday, October 31 at approximately 2:30pm

Please communicate with your child's teacher regarding items to bring or activities to plan. Teachers welcome help with party set-up and clean-up as well!

6th-8th students had their Halloween celebration at the student dance on October 25th.

6th-8th grade students should not wear costumes to school on October 31st. 6th-8th grade students wearing costumes will be directed to change clothes for the remainder of the day.

Parents, our PPO organizes a snack for school staff every Friday. Parents sign up and bring in treats for roughly 40 staff members on Friday mornings. There are still a few open dates in December. Please offer to help by signing up for one of the available Fridays at this link:
