Welcome back for another week at MHS - for those who are counting we are looking at 22 school days left! I encourage you to come check out our MHS Music Department on Monday, May 13 at 6:30 pm in the gymnasium - we are in for a special treat as Ms. Farrington & Mr. H-D and their respective groups have been hard at work perfecting the special songs they will present as part of the Spring Concert program.

A special highlight this week comes from a University of Maine Professor honoring the hard work of two students performing at an incredibly high level. Congratulations to both Travis Poirier & Bennett Gibson for their exemplary performance at the collegiate level as Juniors in high school. Their professor recently shared this communication with both students, and with their permission, I share this with you all to highlight the strength and talent among the student population at MHS. Prof. Vanozzi writes: "I am about to post final grades for the course and I wanted to let you know that as a result of your exemplary work this semester...Your work and commitment to the course made it clear that you both deserved A's...Please be sure to share this email with your families, schoolteachers, and guidance counselors. You should be very proud of the work you did. I am not sure of your future education plans or your career plans, but please know that you have both shown tremendous abilities in the spatial reasoning skills necessary for careers in Surveying Engineering Technology. If you would like to know more, please do not hesitate to reach out..." What a wonderful thing to share with our students for their hard work, and what an impressive thing to hear as a high school junior that you have a future in the engineering field. Well done, Travis & Bennett!

Several members of the MHS National Honor Society once again rolled up their sleeves and put in some good old fashioned elbow grease to help make areas of our community just a bit brighter and better. Some students put some finishing touches on MHS bathrooms, others conducted a clean up of the Waterboro Elementary School playground and nearby Friendship Park, and some volunteered at the Alfred Elementary School Color Stroll!
