It Was A Whale Of A Time!
Delilah swam by the Rose L. on March 22nd to visit with our second graders. Delilah is a life-sized inflatable North Atlantic Right Whale. Her measurements are based off of a real whale! They got to go inside the whale to learn all about its body and what it eats. They also looked at, and touched, real whale vertebrae and baleen (whale teeth). It was definitely a whale of a time! A big thank you to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation as well as the WBPTO for another amazing presentation!
Power Squad Presentation
On April 2nd the Power Squad from The National Theatre for Children performed for our Grade 3 students. During the show students learned the importance about energy efficiency. This 25-minute show featured two engaging actors performing a fun story that kept students laughing and learning. Theater has the ability to capture imaginations and educate at the same time!
Energy Academy: The Power Squad taught students about the following educational points:
· What energy and electricity are
· What energy resources are
· How energy is used unwisely
· How we can use energy efficiently
Upcoming Grade 3 Wax Museum
Get ready to step back in time! Each third grader selects a historical person born in Massachusetts and/or important to Massachusetts history. They research their person, fill in a poster with their facts, and plan to dress up as their person at the wax museums. Class wax museums will take place the week of April 22nd. Parents/Guardians are welcome to join us on their child's wax museum day as history comes alive!

RLM Student Council
RLM Student Council has been hard at work on various goals they have set for themselves this year.
The math subcommittee hosted their very first March Math Madness Challenge where each student was challenged to practice grade-appropriate math facts and increase their math fluency over the month. The winning class will be announced this week as members are double-checking their corrections and spreadsheets!
Our student leaders also facilitated a fundraiser to raise money for cancer research in memory of our former and beloved students, Jase Russell and Bella DuBois. Their efforts also supported a member's cousin, Kash Doughty. I am very happy to share that their efforts collected over $1,600 that will be donated to Dana Farber and The Jimmy Fund.
The garden subcommittee met with Mrs. Grinder, Director of Food Services, to participate in a taste-testing and to discuss plans for a school garden to grow our own produce for breakfasts and lunches. StuCo leaders were excited to see a preferred selection already make its way on this month's lunch menu. The rainbow bagels were a hit! They will also be planted seeds after the vacation break!
RLM Student Council looks forward to sharing more of their accomplishments at the 2024 Academic, Technology and Fine Arts Showcase on May 9th!
