Stonybrook School Weekly Update #28
April 7th 2024
Welcome Back to School!
Welcome Back to School! I hope that everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable Spring Break. School reopens tomorrow, April 8th.
Solar Eclipse Safety Precautions
On April 8th, a large area of the United States will experience a total solar eclipse. While New Jersey is not fully in the "Path of Totality," we will experience the effects of the sun being blocked by the moon in the afternoon commencing around 2:00 p.m. and lasting until approximately 4:35 p.m.
As stated in the email that you received on March 28, 2024, "This rare celestial event presents a unique opportunity for observation but also brings potential dangers if proper precautions are not taken. With many individuals eager to witness this phenomenon, it's essential that we prioritize safety. I ask that you please take the time today to discuss the safety steps that need to be followed in order to view the eclipse without any issues with your child/ren. The school will not be providing protective eyewear for our students, so if you are making arrangements to view the eclipse, please ensure that all safety protocols are taken."
If you are planning to view the eclipse with your child, ensure that all glasses meet the necessary safety standards. (ISO 12312-2).
All blinds in the classrooms and offices will remain closed and all students will have indoor recess. There are no planned outdoor activties.
All car dismissal students will remain in the building until you drive directly to the door to pick up your child. They will not stand outside for tomorrow, Monday. All bus students will report directly to their bus as they normally do through their normal exit. All students remain in the gymnasium until their bus arrives.
Exterior entrances will be well lit during dismissal time and extra staff members will be assisting.
Please know that the safety of our students is our top priority. Thank you.
