The Chelmer Valley Weekly Bulletin
5th May 2023
WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING THIS WEEK IN TUTOR TIME?
This week in tutor time our students in Years 7 – 10 have been continuing to look at the 5 Ways to Wellbeing related to the elements of be active and keep learning by carrying out some revision activities and brain gym.
Year 7 – Brain Gym
Year 8 – Revision Techniques
Year 9 - Revision Techniques
Year 10 - Revision Techniques
Please click here for a link to the school website where these presentations can be viewed.
With the Year 11 GCSE exams nearly upon us, the Year 11 students have been spending tutor time revising using some of the techniques learnt previously.
Assemblies this week have focused on preparing the Year 10 students for their mock exams and promoting the School Sixth Form.
Wellbeing Award for Schools
We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Wellbeing Award for Schools. The awards intention is to help schools prepare and equip themselves to promote emotional wellbeing and positive mental health across the whole-school community. Good emotional wellbeing and mental health is at the heart of the culture and ethos of the school, so that pupils, with the support of their teachers and other adults in school, can build confidence and flourish. Evidence shows that wellbeing is of central importance to learning and attainment, with high levels of wellbeing associated with improved academic outcomes. Conversely, pupils who have mental health problems are more likely to have academic difficulties at school and experience social disadvantage later in adult life.
To achieve the award and to put wellbeing at the heart of learning, there has been a ‘whole-school approach’ where all aspects of the school experience are harnessed to promote the emotional wellbeing and mental health of pupils and staff. It is an approach where emotional wellbeing and mental health is everybody’s business and students and parents/carers have been integral in the achievement of this award.
Attendance
We are delighted that our overall attendance continues to be 92%.
Parents are required to contact the school by 8:00 am each day of absence.
Absences can either be reported by telephoning 01245 440232 or emailing attendance@chelmer.essex.sch.uk
