As we mark the mid-August date, I am quite certain back-to-school thoughts and conversations have begun in many of your homes. Indeed, we have been busy at the Brown School all summer getting ready for the upcoming year. Materials and supplies, as well as new students are arriving every week. It feels a little too early for the official Welcome Back Newsletter, but judging from my inbox and voicemails, there is some common information that might be better shared sooner rather than later.

Read on to find our more about updating your Aspen and placement, PK and K Orientation Dates, school supply needs, Grade 1-3 Supply Drop off time, and upcoming dates to put on your calendars.

The Aspen system has gone through its annual updating process. Now, it's your turn. :-)

We need you to update your child's information every year for a host of reasons:

• Most importantly, in the event of an emergency, we need to be able to contact you via email, voice and text, and these need to be confirmed annually
• Emergency contacts need to be current and verified for early dismissals for any reason (family events/pickups, illness and as well as emergencies)
• For older students, Aspen must be updated for extra and co-curricular participation

Our preliminary classroom placement process was completed in June by teachers, administrators, counselors, special educators and Allied Arts teachers. However, students continue to come and go throughout the summer which always impacts placement. We thank you for respecting the placement process and the work teacher put into the process.

Once Aspen is updated, you will be assured the opportunity to view your child's classroom placement in Aspen on Wednesday, August 21 at 3:00 PM. If you aren't able to view your child's homeroom, first be sure you have updated your account. If you still are not able to view your child's homeroom, please reach out to our school secretaries. They can make sure you receive the information you need.

We will be providing time for our youngest learners and parents to see the classroom, meet the teacher and other staff members before their first day of school.

Please keep an eye on your email and snail mail for more information about these experiences. For now, save the date and time:

PK Orientation....................Thursday, August 29th- 1:00-1:30 PM

Kindergarten Orientation.....Tuesday, September 3rd-9:00-10:00 AM

School supply commercials have begun to inundate our inboxes, airwaves, and streaming services! If your kids are itching to get school supplies, we have lists to help you decide what you might need. If there are specific things needed or would be helpful for your child's classroom, the teacher will share that information soon.Our website has the list for each grade to help guide families.

If you are interested in meeting the teacher, taking a quick peek at the classroom and dropping off any school supplies, students and parents in grade 1-3 may do this on THURSDAY, AUGUST 29th FROM 2:00-2:30. This is a completely optional opportunity.

The Main Doors open at 7:45 for students interested in having breakfast

There is no supervision available in the cafeteria before 7:45.

There is no supervision available on the playground before 7:55.
