Week In Review and A Look Ahead
September 13, 2024
Notes from the Principal
Week 3 is in the books as we completed our first full five-day week of the year. Fall athletics, band, and color guard are ramping up their activities and games will be starting next week. Please see the map later in the newsletter to help navigate our fields for athletic events. Students staying behind to watch games need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Please remember that Wednesday, September 18, is an Early Dismissal Day and lunches are NOT served on these days. Breakfast will be served as normal.
Please note the changes that are starting next week:
1. We are changing the time that our car riders will be dismissed and picked up in the afternoon. Due to a variety of reasons, we feel that we can dismiss all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade car riders at the same time, 2:35PM. This will ensure that all students receive an equal amount of time in period 10 and will also help us get students and drivers through our car line much faster. This change will begin on Monday, Sept 16. All car riders will be dismissed at 2:35PM and drivers are asked to not report to school until 2:30PM.
2. We will no longer be loaning chargers from the library. Students should be charging their Chromebooks every night, and in the rare event that a student forgets, each classroom has one or two chargers available for students' usage.
"Under the Sea" Fall Dance
Student Council is hosting the first dance of the school year. The “Under the Sea” dance will be held on Friday, September 27th from 7-9 PM at MSE. The dance is for students in grades 6, 7, and 8.
The cost of the dance is $5. All students attending the dance MUST pre-pay for the dance during lunch. Students will not be permitted to pay when they get to the dance. Students will need to present their student ID when paying as well as when entering the dance. Those without an ID will be able to purchase a ticket after the rest of the students go through the line. Students will be able to pay for the dance during lunch on one of the following days:
- Wednesday, September 25th
- Thursday, September 26th
- Friday, September 27th
Students will be able to have their picture taken with their friends at the dance. Pictures cost $1 for each person who wants a copy of the picture.
Please refer to pages 44 and 51 in the student handbook for attendance at extracurricular events and dance expectations.
Important Drop-Off and Pick-Up Information
Drop-Off:
- All students should be dropped off at the back entrance by the gym. Students should have their ID. Those without their ID will enter the dance after the rest of the students enter.

- Any car that arrives before 6:50PM should park in the back parking lot and wait in order to prevent a back log on to Rt 73.
