WHAT'S UP AT ERIN SCHOOL
ATTENDANCE MATTERS: A QUICK REMINDER
Hello Parents and Guardians!
Just a friendly reminder about the importance of regular attendance and being on time. When students arrive at school each day and on time, they’re setting themselves up for success. It helps them stay on top of their learning and fully engage with their classmates and lessons.
We completely understand that sickness happens, and your child’s health is our top priority. When your child is under the weather, it’s important they rest and recover. At the same time, we also want to make sure they’re getting the most out of their education. If you know your child will have a planned absence, please reach out to us in advance. This way, we can ensure your child and their teacher have the necessary homework or materials to stay on track.
What to Expect:
After 5 absences, you’ll receive an attendance letter as a gentle reminder.
If your child reaches 10 absences, we’ll send a follow-up letter, and we’ll need to schedule a meeting with administration to create a plan to improve attendance.
Being proactive with communication helps everyone. Thanks for your continued support in helping our students thrive!
SCHOOLS PICTURES HAVE ARRIVED!

FORWARD EXAM RESULTS 4TH-8TH GRADERS
Forward Exam results from the Spring of 2024 have been sent home with 4th-8th grade students.
Please be sure to check backpacks!
LIBRARY & STEAM TIME!
The library has a refreshed look with new carpet and an updated circulation desk! We've been enjoying the "new" space, reading stories, checking out books, and engaging in fun STEAM activities!
4K - We have not visited the library yet, but we plan to start in early October! 4K students will check out 1 book each week.
5K - We read a story each week and check out 2 books. If we have time, we like to do a very short STEAM activity.
1st, 2nd, 3rd Grades - We read a story, check out 3 books, and then engage in a STEAM lesson!
4th, 5th Grades - We alternate between story/book check-out one week and a STEAM lesson the next week. During our book week, we read a story together and then check out up to 5 books. During our STEAM week, we spend our entire library time engaging in a STEAM activity.
Please try to return books within the week (4K-3rd) or two weeks (4th and 5th) between book checkouts. Students are welcome to keep their books longer but will only be allowed to have the amount of books listed above checked out at a time. If books are still checked out past the "due date", your child will come home with a reminder slip. We are very understanding in the library and want to be sure kids have books to read throughout the year. If books are lost or damaged, just let us know. We know things can happen!
PARENT TEACHER CLUB (PTC)
We will start with an introduction of the Erin School Parent Teacher Club and share ways to get involved. Click here for more details!
We will then conduct our meeting. Here is the September Agenda. All are welcome!
THE ANXIOUS GENERATION
Save-the-Date!
Anxious Generation Round Table Discussion
September 18th at 6pm in the Library
We hope you can join us!
The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood Is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness is a 2024 best-selling book by Jonathan Haidt, which argues that the rise of smartphones and overprotective parenting have led to a "rewiring" of childhood and a rise in mental illness. We have 8 books available for interested families to check out! Please contact the front office if you are interested. You do not need to read the whole book to join and learn!
FITNESS FRIDAY - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Dear Parents,
Our Erin School Fitness Friday will take place on Friday, September 20th from 1:00 -3:05pm. For those of you who have not experienced Fitness Friday, it is an afternoon filled with movement, mentoring, healthy snacks, and lots of fun fitness challenges. We have many local businesses that partner with our school for this event.
We need a lot of parent (and grandparents) helpers to make this event a success. Your job would be to simply help supervise a station and encourage the students as they work on the fitness challenges. Please sign up using this link , if you can assist with this exciting school event. All volunteers should meet in the gym at 12:30pm on Sept. 20th. Come join the fun and help create another successful Fitness Friday.
If you know of any businesses that would like to be part of our Fitness Friday event by running a station or donating healthy snacks, please have them contact Mr. Mueller at Mueller@erinschool.org
