MIDDLE YEARS PROGRAMME
The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IB MYP) has a strong focus on design thinking through its design cycle. This design cycle aligns very well with principles of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education.
The IB MYP design cycle is an iterative process students go through to identify problems or needs, research an issue, develop potential solutions, create prototypes or models, test them, evaluate the testing, and modify as necessary. This mirrors the engineering design process used by STEM professionals to solve problems through technological innovation.
The open-ended, creative nature of the IB MYP design cycle encourages the kind of critical thinking, troubleshooting, and innovation key to careers in fast-growing STEM fields. Going through the design process gives students project-based experience with essential STEM practices.
In this way, the IB framework provides the ideal avenue for interdisciplinary STEM learning, allowing students to master technical skills while exercising their creativity. Engaging with design thinking enhances their problem-solving, collaboration, communication and presentation abilities - building a solid foundation for future studies and careers.
Why choose IB? Here are 10 reasons why. Take a look at the article below to see why an IB diploma education could be the right way to go!

IB LEARNER TRAIT OF THE MONTH
Congratulations to last month's IB Leaners of the Month Thinkers
January-Open-Minded
To start the new year off right, the IB learner profile trait for January is open-minded. As open-minded lifelong learners, we critically appreciate our own cultures and personal histories, as well as the values and traditions of others. We seek and evaluate a range of points of view, and we are willing to grow from the experience.
To encourage open-mindedness in your students, here are a few suggestions. Happy new year!
Encourage students to try new things – new foods, new games and new activities.
Expose students to different festivals, celebrations and traditions and be sure to present them in a non-judgmental way.
Encourage students to really listen to others when they speak.
Introduce literature about many different cultures into your home library. Be sure that it is appropriate and reflects the culture in an appropriate way.
Introduce students to other countries, cultures, global issues, and perspectives.
