Hello everyone,
As we stand on the threshold of an exciting event, I am thrilled to extend my warmest invitation to all of you for our upcoming International Culture Festival. Tomorrow promises to be a day brimming with vibrant colors, diverse flavors, and the rich tapestry of cultures that make our school community truly exceptional. The anticipation and effort invested by everyone involved have been nothing short of remarkable, and it's with great excitement that I anticipate the unfolding of this celebration.
The collective dedication and diligence put forth by our students, faculty, and volunteers have woven together an event that promises to be an extraordinary showcase of our global heritage. Each individual's contribution, whether in planning, practicing performances, or preparing delicious dishes, has played an integral role in making this festival a reality.
This event is an opportunity for us to come together, not only to celebrate our differences but also to revel in the beauty of our shared humanity. It's a chance to embrace diversity, foster cultural understanding, and build bridges that connect us across continents.
I eagerly anticipate sharing this day of cultural abundance with each and every one of you. Together, let's make this event the highlight of our school year.

Childrens' National Art Competition
To the Louvre she goes!
In one of our previous issues of the AIS Chronicle, we reported that one of our students, Halco, won the Grande Prize at the 46th' Childrens' Art Competition. From there she would move on to the national level and if her artwork was selected it would be displayedin the Louvre, yes that Louvre, the one in Paris, France!
Well, I got good news! Halco's artwork was selected as one of 105 works out of 75,650 entries, and her artwork was chosen to be exhibited at the Louvre Museum! This is an amazing accomplishment!
34 students, including Halco joined this art competition and 8 of our students were chosen for the "Excellent Work" Award, good job everyone!
PYP Exhibition
PYPx
PYPx brings together the essential elements of the PYP and shares them with the school community. As a culminating experience, it is an opportunity for students to display the International Baccalaureate (IB) learner profile attributes and approaches to learning that they have been developing throughout their time in the PYP program. Students engage in a collaborative, transdisciplinary inquiry process that involves them identifying, investigating, and offering solutions to real-life issues or problems. We hope it inspires them to be lifelong learners.
Grades 5 and 6 would like to showcase their projects to our school community. The topics they chose are:
Coral reef
Exercise
Gender bias
Honey bees
Movie morals
Ocean animals
Phone addiction
Unnatural death
Exhibition Schedule:
13:00 - Doors open/ Exploration of the art gallery in the gym
13:05 - Opening ceremony
13:20 - Audience explores student exhibits located around the gym
15:00 - Finish (there is no closing ceremony, so feel free to leave once you have seen all exhibitions)
Please join us to show your support for our Grade 5 and 6 students!
Please note that this is a normal school day for all students (Nursery to Grade 9). School hours remain the same for students. Grade 5 and 6 students are asked to stay until 16:00 to help clean up.
Thank you,

Classroom Spotlight: Grade 1
Ever the adventurers...
On Wednesday November 15th, the Grade 1 class, alongside the 6th grade class took a trip to the local shotengai to introduce themselves to the locals and familiarize themselves with the local community, as well as meet the police officers at the Kiosk. They were accompanied by the 6th grade class to give them much needed encouragement. The grade 1 class was determined to come back the following Wednesday, where they would visit the local bakery and other shops in the shotengai to support the local community.
The adventures wouldn't stop there as the grade 1 class last Friday went to Nanrakuen on a field trip to pick oranges and sweet potatoes. Despite the bad weather that hit Osaka last week, the grade 1 class would not be deterred. They even had the opportunity to go through an obstacle which, I was told, was not easy!
Abroad Fitness
Bringing exercise to your life
Are you tired of your kids always playing on their devices? Do you want them to go out, stay active, and do some fitness? Well, we have the PERFECT solution for you! We are Aleyna and Julie from Grade 9, and we have spent time during our Design class creating an online educational fitness platform accessible by anyone for all age groups, whether for your children or for you, making our game family-friendly! We provide games and exercises suitable for both the indoors and outdoors, so no matter where you are, just pull out our game and PLAY!
We observed a significant problem at Abroad: students aren’t active enough, and they spend far more time on their devices than they do outside, moving their bodies. Through a survey we sent out a few months ago, it was clear that students enjoy exercising but prefer to use their devices. We decided that in order to promote exercise in a fun and engaging way, we would create an online game that allows students to participate in activities, earning them points each time they play. Abroad Fitness combines screen time and fitness in a fun and entertaining way! We hope that our game will motivate students to create a habit of exercise.
Abroad Fitness provides countless benefits, including better physical and mental health, productivity, social life, etc. By taking part in the games and exercises we have prepared, you’ll strengthen your muscles, improve your ability to do every activity, boost your energy, promote better quality sleep, and have a more balanced lifestyle! So what are you waiting for?
By taking part in our fitness platform, you’ll have the opportunity to earn points and perhaps be on the leaderboard! The students and adults who complete the most exercises and play the most games will earn points that will be used to rank them on the leaderboard. Keep in mind that there are only seven empty spots, so the more you play and stay active, the more likely you have to be on the leaderboard for the whole school to see and praise! All you have to do is access the link and put the game into presentation mode. Scan the QR code now and have some fun!
