FCMS Express
Week of March 31, 2025
From Mr. Liggett
FCMS Family,
As we move into the month of April, please communicate with the school on any concern you might have related to your child's success. As we move through this last academic quarter, I encourage everyone to finish these last two months of school with the determination of doing what is best for yourself and the fortitude towards pushing yourself in achieving high standards.
It’s so positive to see that the school is highlighting the hard work of both students and teachers, especially with the recognition of our “Students and Teachers of the Month.” Our FCMS “Students of the Month” include (6th grade) Layne Conley, (7th grade) Moriah Kolb, and (8th grade) Adam Owens. Our FCMS “Teachers of the Month” are Mrs. Noah and Mr. Laughlin. We are grateful to have these people as part of our learning community at FMCS.
The upcoming events / reminders for the month of April include:
8th - FCMS Leadership Meeting - 7:35am - Community Room
8th - Student Safety Committee Meeting - SRT - Room 136
9th - Early Dismissal, PLC
11th-13th - School Musical Cinderella

As always, I want to stress the importance of communication. If your child is struggling, then please reach out to our teachers through an email or personal communication. Your commitment to your child, related to their learning, sets a strong foundation for their future.

Staff Spotlight
Ms. Smith: A History Star
The staff spotlight this week is Ms. Smith, one of the 8th-grade social studies teachers.
Ms. Smith attended Ball State University and got a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Studies Education with concentrations in History and Government. She had to take many history, government, and teaching courses to be licensed as a teacher. This is her second year teaching and her first at FCCSC. She worked in Anderson, Indiana, for one year before coming to FCCSC.
She wanted to be a teacher because 3 out of 4 of her grandparents were teachers, inspiring her to pursue this career path. She knew she wanted to be a teacher ever since elementary school. Ms. Smith doesn’t like coffee, but she would choose Starbucks over Dunkin. Her favorite vacation is a trip to Disney World or a Disney cruise. If she wasn’t a teacher, she would go work in Washington, DC. If she won a million dollars, she would buy a house first. Her favorite flavor of ice cream is Milk and Cookies from Ben & Jerry’s.
Ms. Smith is a history favorite.

6th Grade
Congratulations to the following 6th graders who received a shout out from classmates:
Corah Roark (for kindness)
Farrah Hoog (for being encouraging)
Emmitt Wathen (for adding laughter to class)
Also Myles Payne received Mrs. Ariens' "ELA Rockstar of the Week". Myles is another excellent example of responsibility and respect in our 6th grade class. He is consistent with positive behavior and is a valued part of my classroom. He emulates success! Thank you, Myles!
College Go Week
FCMC celebrated College Go Week with a variety of fun dress-up days, including college spirit wear and Hats Off to Success Day. Eighth graders had the chance to visit Whitewater Career Center, where they explored the technical career programs offered. Reality Check was a hit this year, giving students a firsthand look at adult financial responsibilities, such as buying a house, paying bills, and making other financial decisions. Career Day was alot of fun. Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders also heard from community members who shared insights about their careers, academic journeys, and professional experiences. Our students are incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to learn from these generous volunteers who dedicate their time to teaching our youth about career possibilities!
