Mac's Notes
2 MN September 2, 2024
Dear Scottie Families,
On Tuesday, August 27th, our Scottie Staff returned to begin planning for the 2024_2025 school year.
Our work centered on anti-racist teaching and learning structures that uplift and are culturally responsive and furthering our learning about the 3 pillars including universal design for learning, multi-tiered systems of support and restorative practices.
All students and families are invited to join us tomorrow, on September 3rd to meet the teacher from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. Our Kindergarten families came for this same event on August 29 and are more than welcome to join us again. The Scottie PTA will be available to connect with us.
Please review the staff directory, (linked on our website) to review our staff assignments for the school year. For the first time in McDonald history, we are welcoming multiage classrooms in two of our ELA classes in 4/5. Our skilled educators are planning a rigorous and meaningful experience for our students in these classes commensurate with their peers in single level classrooms. With staff to student ratio changes, we worked to minimize the number of sections impacted. We preserved single level on the target language side. In our 19.5 balanced sections, with students of various skills and experiences, we are confident every student is setup for success. Requests to shift these classrooms will not be considered.
I encourage you to stay and chat on the first day of school after drop-off (September 4 and 9) to share a cup of coffee and connect about the upcoming school year. We'll host this opportunity in the covered play court by the Scottie Playground on the East side of the building.
Please let us know how we can be of assistance and thank you for your partnership.
Sincerely,
Zoe Facilla, she/her

Immunizations Up to Date?
Washington State Law requires every student to provide proof of immunization compliance to attend school. If you received a letter from Health Services about immunizations your student needs for school, please make sure your student receives the immunization(s) listed in the letter or provide documents to indicate exemptions.
Send the immunization record to the school nurse or have your health care provider fax the record to the nurse.
Immunization requirements can be found on the Health Services Immunizations page.
Life-Threatening Health Conditions
If your student has a life-threatening health condition (Diabetes, Allergies, Seizure disorder, Asthma, etc.), the following items must be provided on or before the first day of school:

SPS Policy 3413 regarding the exclusion process can be found on the School Board Policies and Procedures page under “Student Immunization and Life-Threatening Health Conditions.”
