As we wrap up the 23-24 school year, I want to say how proud I am of all the staff and students at SIC. This has been a year of hard work, lots of learning, and teamwork. Teachers prepared engaging lessons each and every day and students participated and shared their learning with their peers. It was a good year to be a CARDINAL!

On a personal note, this will be my last year as the Principal of the Steger Intermediate Center. It has been my pleasure and honor to work with the staff and families of SD 194 for 23 years. I will take with me so many great memories from Parkview 💛, Columbia Central 💖, Eastview 💙and SIC 💕. I am grateful for all the people I have met and for all the relationships that I will take with me. I thank everyone for allowing me to be a part of your educational journey for so many years. I wish all the SD 194 families my best - I will miss you!

As the school year comes to a close, I want to wish our students and families a safe and restful summer break. As we break for the summer, I want to share with you that at the end of June, I will be leaving the Steger Intermediate Center and Steger School District 194. It has been a pleasure and honor working with the students, families and staff of the Steger School District 194 community over the past 20 years. One of my greatest joys has been watching our students learn and grow over time. I encourage you to continue to learn and grow so that you can reach your goals and be the best you can be. I will cherish the memories and all of the wonderful experiences that we shared together.

Mrs. Heldt brings a wealth of experience in education, having earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Eastern Illinois University, a master's degree in curriculum and instruction with a focus on teacher leadership from Olivet Nazarene University, and another master's degree in educational administration from Grand Canyon University.

Mrs. Heldt has an extensive teaching background, having taught for 13 years in grades 3, 4, and 5. Along with this, she has held various leadership roles, including dean of students, assistant principal, and principal.

Outside of school, Mrs. Heldt enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband Todd and two sons, Carter (15) and Maddon (7).

Mrs. Heldt is enthusiastic about joining Steger School District 194 and is looking forward to working with the students, teachers, staff, and families at the Steger Intermediate Center.

Ms. Vanessa Frye is excited to join the Steger community as the new Assistant Principal at Steger Intermediate Center. She earned her Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Master's in Dual Language Teacher Leadership from Roosevelt University. She is currently completing her doctorate in Urban Educational Leadership at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Ms. Frye joins us from Community Unit School District 201 in Westmont, where she has been serving as an instructional coach. Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time and going on adventures with her husband William, their 3-year-old son Camilo, 1-year-old daughter Mia, and their two dogs.

Congratulations to 4th Grader Treymon Eaton for winning the Perfect Attendance Challenge in May! He received a Nintendo Switch! Great Job!!

Congratulations to our Retiring Teachers: Mrs. Warwick, Ms. Husmann, Mrs. Stluka, and Mr. Muehring. Thank you for all your dedication to the students of SD 194. We will forever be grateful for you and the impact you have had on all your students! Enjoy your retirement!
