A Note From the Principal
Join us for our upcoming Halloween celebration! Our principal, Mr. Wood, will be sporting his new Crater t-shirt and jeans. We recognize that some students may choose not to wear costumes for various reasons; therefore, those students are invited to dress like Mr. Wood and be his twin for the day! Let's make it a festive and inclusive event for everyone!
Crater Halloween Costume Guidelines
Crater Halloween Costume Guidelines
Are students allowed to wear costumes to school on Halloween? Yes. If a student chooses to wear a costume, they should be prepared to wear it all day. If the costume becomes a distraction to the student and/or others, they will be asked to change. Please keep in mind that students will still be going to PE, riding buses, playing outside (rain or shine), sitting on the carpet, using the restroom independently and so forth; please make sure that any costume worn will not interfere with these activities. The school is not responsible for costumes that are torn or damaged at school. Please note that if a student arrives in a costume that does not fall within the guidelines they will be asked to change. Will masks be permitted? No. The only masks should be the kind worn as part of a health protocol. Please do not wear any other kind of mask. Can face paint be worn? For safety reasons, we must be able to easily see and identify children. Are scary costumes an acceptable option at school? A good rule of thumb is to think about how our youngest students might respond to a costume. Costumes must not be too scary or inappropriate for the school environment. Please no blood or gore. Any student who arrives at school in something that is inappropriate, or too scary, will be asked to change. What if a costume includes props and accessories? No props and/or large accessories should accompany the student to school; please save those for celebrations at home. Props include items such as swords, weapons, wands, high heels, gloves, slippers, etc. Are inflatable costumes okay? Inflatable costumes can be super fun, but should be saved for wearing outside of school. Inflatables are very difficult to manage in the school environment, so please do not wear inflatable costumes to school. *Please note that it is not possible to anticipate all the scenarios that might arise when students come to school in costume. Our professional educators will use their discretion to help students successfully navigate the school day.
Walk Up Pick Up
If you have arranged to WALK up and pick up your student, please meet them at the BACK door under the covered area.

Library Volunteer Sign Up
Good Afternoon Crater Families,
Now that we are a few weeks into the school year, I have realized that I need a few volunteers to help keep the Library organized. Unfortunately with the budget cuts I had my hours reduced so I am not able to do as much as I did last year. I would love to have a few of our wonderful Crater volunteers to help me with shelving books, tidying bookshelves, inventorying the craft area, organizing the game area and helping with book categorizing.
I have created a Sign Up with volunteer times on Tuesdays and Thursdays from October 15 to December 19. Sign up for as few or as many slots as you want.

Free Breakfast and Lunch For All Students
Currently, all students districtwide may have one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day, and no application is needed under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). Newberg-Dundee School District qualifies for CEP through the 2026-27 academic year.
Please note that Newberg-Dundee Public Schools will not be accepting free and reduced-price meal applications for as long as the CEP is in place to provide one free breakfast and one free lunch every school day to children. CEP will run through the 2026-27 school year. It ends in June of 2027.
Bus Routes 2024-2025 School Year
