Ms. Martoccia's Counseling Corner
Fall 2020 Update
The Months of October and November Classroom Lessons
In October we:
- finished up teaching Progressive Muscle Relaxation with Guided Imagery to the 5th grade which meant we completed 100% of our classes learning how to use coping skills to better handle difficult emotions.
- completed our school wide state mandated Abuse Prevention training brought to us by Family Services.
- educated the entire 3rd grade on the purpose and use of our Buddy Bench. What a FUN time we had with that lesson!
In November we:
- completed Cyber Safety and Online Gaming Safety in our 4th grade classrooms.
- launched Ms. Martoccia's Virtual Office for students to connect with the counselor from E-learning.
New Weekly Prizes
Our weekly Gold Ticket drawing winners have enjoyed our new prizes.

November Gold Ticket Prize Winners!
In January we will transition to our new PBIS system for prizes. Ask your Bulldog about how they can stock up their earned Gold Tickets to "buy" prizes.
What We've Been Up to
- During October we celebrated Red Ribbon Week and the students learned about the importance of maintaining a healthy life style and staying drug free! We had a dress up day for "I can be anything I want to be, as long as I'm drug free" theme day. Ms. Martoccia was a sumo wrestler! Check out that picture!
- In November we decided to celebrate World Kindness Day all month long! The students and staff loved sharing kindness leaves with one another and in just one week we already had so many leaves on our tree! Check out that picture!
- In November we created Calming Corner baskets for our STEM and specials teachers. Now ALL of our teachers have this great resource to help students regulate difficult emotions so they can keep learning.
- In November BCSC partnered with the Love Chapel which replaced Gleaners in supplying weekend food bags for interested families. We are excited to offer Love Chapel Care Sacks.
We did it Bulldogs!
Rockcreek was the October winner for BEST attendance in the district! This is a great achievement and means we will have the banner back on our hallway wall very soon!

Red Ribbon Dress Up Day

Red Ribbon Door Decoration Day
Pictured is Mrs. Stamper's classroom door. We had a great time seeing all the creative door designs! The students voted and Mrs. Ginder and Mr. Rankin's classrooms were chosen to win the Donut Party.
Family Services
In October each class received our state required Abuse Prevention training from Family Services.
World Kindness Day
Mrs. Erickson designed the coolest tree for our Kindness Leaves. The students enjoyed presenting each other with acts of kindness leaves.
