FCMS Express
Week of March 17th, 2025
From Mr. Liggett
As we approach this well-deserved break, I encourage you to take this time to recharge for the
remainder of the academic year. The spring break is a time to relax and refocus. The school
year can be stressful and challenging at times, but the importance of family goes a long way with
navigating these challenging times. Each day is an opportunity to build relationships and create
lasting memories whether it’s through shared meals, outdoor adventures, or simply enjoying
meaningful conversations. Taking time to connect with loved ones can provide the
encouragement and support needed to finish the school year strong. As always, please continue
to reach out to us for any questions or concerns. Have a great spring break!

Staff Spotlight
Mrs. Pfaffinger: Class Favorite
Mrs. Pfaffinger is a paraprofessional here at FCMS and she has been nominated for this week's Staff Spotlight.
Mrs. Pfaffinger teaches special education. She has been teaching for 8 years, 7 of those being at a daycare. This is her first year teaching in a middle school environment. She went to Cincinnati State University for 4 years where she earned her Associates Degree in medical assistance. She also earned her degree in Early Childhood development.
Mrs. Pfaffinger played soccer and basketball through high school. She doesn’t have a favorite sports team but she will sit down and watch the Bengals on Sundays. Mrs. Pfaffinger’s favorite pastime activities are reading. Mrs. Pfaffinger has 3 children. She has two boys and one girl. Their names are Christopher, Cali, and Cade. Christopher is 7, Cali is 5, and Cade is two. Mrs Pfaffinger loves 90’s country music. Mrs. Pfaffinger’s first car was a purple Ford Focus. When she was in high school she thought it was cool that they all decided to name their cars. She named her car Dorothy. If Mrs. Pfaffinger could have any car in the world; it would be a hunter green Chevy Tahoe.
FCMS is very proud to have Mrs. Pfaffinger as a teacher.

From Mrs. Chamberlain
7th grade art class has been working hard on creating a color wheel eye.
FACS
The FACS department has been busy these past few weeks from designing Valentine cupcakes, making grilled cheese sandwiches, and to constructing emoji projects. Of course we are also working on becoming smart consumers as we learn to read product labels. Elizabeth Simmermeyer has been a weekly guest speaker and she is helping the 7th grade to understand farm production style, nutrition facts, and health claims on packaging that we see on food labels at the store. The 8th graders are finishing up a monster project for Mt. Carmel, more pictures of those to come soon.
From Mrs. Schneider
7th grade science students explored fossils in Mrs. Schneider's class.
From 6th Grade
Congratulations to the following 6th graders who received a shout-out from classmates this week:
Erica Glisson (for being positive)
Brooklynn Manson (for being kind)
Jayden Clark (for being helpful)
Lilly Scott (for being positive)
Also, congratulations to Brodee Andre, for being selected as Mrs. Ariens' "ELA Rockstar of the Week". Brodee is a prime example of responsibility and respect. He respects everyone around him, showing kindness regardless of what is going on around him. He demonstrates superior effort in all of his work, and understands what “doing your best” truly means. Nice work, Brodee!
Mrs. Ariens’ 6th graders paired up for some very interesting research projects. They worked together in class researching a topic and creating engaging slideshows with an “extra” element. Slide requirements included 6 facts, 4 images, and 1 text feature. Many students close to include hyperlinks to short videos. We even took a virtual ride on a roller coaster! Presentations were fantastic! Students learned about a variety of topics, including self-driving cars, how “Alexa” works, the history of Jolly Ranchers, and Pompeii.
First Band Concert
The sixth grade band performed their first concert on March 11th in the FCHS band room. The sixth graders demonstrated what it is like to learn an instrument and performed songs they had learned so far. Students were featured as speakers, soloists, and ensemble members. The band sounded great and we look forward to performing again in May!
From Applied Skills
Our Applied Skills students were very excited to see their teacher, Mrs. Osborne, and meet her new baby. They have also been enjoying our recent beautiful weather!
From Mrs. Riffle
Exploring AG
The 7th grade Exploring Ag students enjoyed dissecting seeds and flowers to see and identify the parts first-hand. After their plant propagation lessons they planted their own succulent that they will raise and care for through the end of the year.
Into to AG
The 8th grade Intro to Ag students wrapped up their renewable resources lesson and Teamed up to practice their engineering skills by designing and building wind turbines that had to lift at least 10 pennies up 30 cm. There were some very creative designs!
PCC
The 8th grade Preparing for College and Career classes practiced their teamwork, communication, and leadership skills through a fun building activity inspired by the movie "Apollo 13." In this activity the "engineer" designed and built a creation that could only be seen by the "flight director", who relayed the information to "capcom", who explained it to the "astronaut", who finally had to try to replicate the original structure.
