“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”- Aesop
Dear CISL Students, Parents, & Guardians!
I want to start by thanking all of the students, parents, and guardians who helped us pull off an incredible Rise Against Hunger Meal Packing Event at Hylton High School this past Friday. The Rise Against Hunger staff said that we were one of if not the hardest working high school group they have ever worked with. We packed 10,800 meals for people in need across the globe in less than an hour and a half! Thank you to anyone and everyone who made this event possible with donations, volunteers who helped before, during, and after the event. I'm so proud and grateful for the support, please remember that Aesop said "no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." And what we accomplished on Friday is no small feat. Thank you to all of those involved!
November was a busy month for us, we held an incredible General Meeting during school, we finished our Fall CISL Book Club, and we hosted ETC International Night where we met exchange students from all over Northern Virginia.
December offers even more incredible opportunities including our ongoing fight in Dressember to end human trafficking, and modern day slavery, and an incredible December General Meeting. Please check out the rest of this newsletter, the CISL canvas page and the Hylton website for additional information on the current CISL events.
The deadline to join us for the Italian Exchange trip going to Rome, Florence, Verona, and Venice over spring break. Please email me at terencce@pwcs.edu if you have questions, or if you would still like to join this trip. Payment is due as soon as possible.

Join us for Dressember in the fight against Human Trafficking & Human Slavery!
Dressember- Our vision is a world where all people are free!
Every day during December, we wear a dress or tie to bring awareness and collect donations to end human slavery and human trafficking. For one month a dress or a tie will serve as our flag, together we will carve a path to a better future! Your support will fund holistic, life-saving prevention, rescue, and aftercare through our programmatic partners.
Every year, thousands of advocates around the world take on the challenge of wearing a dress or tie during the 31 days of December. The dress or tie serves as the conversation starter to educate your community about human trafficking. Through your personalized campaign page, you'll be able to share your journey with your community and make a tangible impact in the fight against trafficking. We equip you every step of the way with the tools to become an every day advocate. We believe #YouCanDoAnythingInADress, including raise millions of dollars to support the fight to end human trafficking. Join us this December.
CISL students there are three main ways to participate!
1. Are you all in and willing to wear a dress or tie every day in the month of December? Then join our team! Step 1: Go to the Dressember website- link below (https://www.dressember.org/) Step 2: In the top right corner hit the yellow button labeled "Fundraise". Step 3: Click the button labeled "Join Team" (because you're joining all of us from Hylton CISL). Step 4: Enter your profile information (name, email address, phone number, and password) then hit next. Step 5: Enter more information (your street address, gender, date of birth, whether or not you consent to messages) then hit next. Step 6: Now you can set up your profile, you can upload an image, enter a title for your page (don't overthink it), set your fundraising goal at whatever you would like to raise (if you don't meet your goal that's okay too. Then hit next. Step 7: Final step, now you want to join our Hylton team so search for "Hylton CISL Bulldogs" and join our team! Step 8: Send your digital fundraising page and our team page links to family and friends! Every school day during the month of December we will take a picture in front of the CISL office in our dresses and ties at 7:20 am! Hope to see you there.
2. If you can't commit to dressing up every day of December consider being an ally and showing your support by dressing up any day that you can in December. Join us any day you're dressed up as we take our daily picture in front of the CISL Office at 7:20 am. Share our photos, facts, and messages on twitter and instagram about our Dressember progress. Encourage people you know to donate!
3. Make a donation to this incredible cause. Either go to our page linked directly below or go to dressember.com and select "Give to a Fundraiser", select teams, and type in "Hylton CISL Bulldogs". Or just click the link below. You can donate either to the Hylton CISL Bulldogs team as a whole or to a specific student on our team! Every dollar counts! (See Link Below).
