Three Kings Day
January 6th was Three Kings Day - a very important holiday in Spanish speaking Countries. It celebrates the visit of the Magi after the birth of Jesus. 6th and 8th grade Spanish students had fun making their coronoas (crowns) and being queen or king for the day!
La Pirinola (dreidel) & Loteria mexicana are some of the games the spanish students played in class this month.

Bond Updates
As we roll into February and winter has finally set in, we are making preparations for one last push with proposed bond work for the upcoming summer. BCS has been blessed to have the support of our community and patience of our staff and students. The process of construction is never fun and it is A LOT of work. However, we are beginning to see the results. We are currently in the process of taking a step back from construction to assess the remaining bond dollars and the projects that we'd still like to complete. We are also beginning some of our punchlist walks to review completed work and make any adjustments to confirm corrections are done to ensure work is up to standards.
In February, we have plans to have one final bid pack that will address our list of items that remain. Several large items include: replacing the HS gym floor and refinishing the elementary gym floor, hallway paint, flooring in additional classrooms/media center, parking lots, and AC with the use of ESSER funds. Bids should be finalized here in February and March with the intention of one more summer of bond work taking place across the district.
We are so very excited to see our MS gym work completed. It certainly was unfortunate timing when the roof work caused water damage to the floor. However, this work has been completed via an insurance claim and not with bond funds. This will allow bond funds to be reallocated to some of our other needs around the district. One thing is for sure, this floor has brought some excitement to our MS and youth basketball students and provides an excellent space to practice and play games.
As a community, we can continue to take great pride in our facilities! All can take care of them by helping keep it clean and treating the facilities with respect. Go Huskies!

Blue's News!
January 9th is National Blue Day... I mean National Labrador Retriever Day. Here I am celebrating as one should - a relaxing sprawl on the floor with Larry the Allgaitor.
Just supervising my friend Ondray while he works. (This has nothing to do with the plate of peanut butter cookies that were on the counter... Nothing at all.)
I had another seizure a couple of weeks ago. The kids were great about helping my mom. Thanks to Roger (my unicorn) and some TLC, I was feeling better in no time!
