Healthy Choices Week Dress Up Days
Fall Fun Friday: Costume Parade, Pumpkin Patch, and Fall Party Details
FALL FUN FRIDAY is November 1st!!! We are grateful for the parent and community support we have at Monroe and wanted to provide multiple opportunities for families to participate in the fun!
Costume Information: Students may wear costumes to school on Friday, November 1st and can show them off in our Costume Parade! Please remember costumes must be elementary school age appropriate- no scary makeup, fake blood, weapons, or full face masks. Costumes must also be culturally sensitive in nature and should be respectful of the backgrounds and heritage of others. Please be thoughtful in your costume choices and reach out before the big day if you have any questions about what might or might not be appropriate. Students should NOT wear costumes to school on Thursday October 31st. We will have a Pajama Day on that day (Halloween)!
7:50 AM - Costume Parade at GMM: Please park on side streets in neighborhoods so that we have enough parking for staff. (Thank you for this!) Parents need to check in at the main door by the front office. People with a digital pass (Fast Pass) can come in through the left door, show their pass on their phone to the staff member at that door, receive a yellow visitor sticker, and come right in to go to the gym! Those who do not have a digital need to check in through the front office with a valid ID. Please arrive as early as possible in order to get into the gym on time for GMM! We're excited to see students in their costumes!
**After you have checked in once during the day and have a blue and yellow Monroe visitor sticker or the regular visitor sticker with your picture, you can keep this for the rest of the day and not have to check in again for the Pumpkin Patch and/or Fall Parties. :)
Pumpkin Patch: Please see the schedule below to know when your child's grade level goes to the Pumpkin Patch. Parents can show their Fast Pass at the southwest gym door to get a visitor sticker. Those without a Fast Pass need to check in at the front office. Feel free to come back for fall parties at the end of the day!
2:00 PM - Classroom Fall Parties: **You should receive a link from your child's teacher/homeroom parent within the week to sign up to bring items.** We're excited for parents to join us for pumpkin decorating in their child's classroom! Thank you for helping with providing snacks and decorating supplies! If you are taking your child from their classroom at the end of the school day, please be sure to sign out through your child's teacher.
Bethesda Stop, Go, Tell
Monroe Elementary School has the opportunity to provide a prevention program about self-protection and respecting personal boundaries in your child’s class. Bethesda, Inc.'s Outreach/Prevention Coordinator will present a personal safety program through a series of fun, interactive activities. This joint effort is between Bethesda, Inc., a United Way Agency, and Norman Public Schools. The presentation will be during the week of October 28th, 2024. Your child’s teacher and counselor, Heather Fronheiser, will be present during the presentation.
**This letter has already come home in your child's Thursday folder. You only need to sign and return it if you do NOT want your child to participate.**
Survey: Your voice is important!
We are seeking your feedback regarding the prevention programming at your child’s school. Please fill out the survey via the QR code above or the link here by November 27th.
