Northridge Library Books & Policies
Library Book Care
Library books are for everyone, so please take care of your books for the next person to use!
- --Keep books CLEAN and DRY
- --Keep all labels, tape, and pages attached
- --Keep books away from food, drinks, and unsupervised baby humans and animals!
Remember to
- know where your books are
- return your books to the library every week
- talk about books! Kids of ALL AGES improve their reading skills when families read and talk about books TOGETHER! :-)
Northridge Book Checkout and Renewals:
Library visits take place weekly and each class visits for up to 30 minutes as a group.
Students in TK-1st grade check out books as a class each week, and all their library books stay in their classrooms. Students in these grades may individually borrow books with parent permission.
Students in grades 2 - 6 may check out one or more books, depending on their grade level and the number of lost or late books currently in their account.
Library books check out for one week at a time and may be renewed as many times as needed.
There are no late fees for books that are returned.
Lost or Damaged Books
If a book is LOST and cannot be found and returned, or if the book is damaged beyond repair while checked out to a student, a fine equal to the cost of the book will be due. This type of fine may be paid in cash, in the office or in the library. Replacement of the book with a new copy is also allowed and encouraged. This policy is in place to help students recognize their responsibility and demonstrate respect for shared resources.
Have you seen these books?
Some of our cutest and most popular starter chapter books disappeared from our shelves during the winter and spring of 2024. These books were not checked out, so if you have had a large set appear on your home bookshelf, we would be happy to take them back, no questions asked.
All Northridge Library Books have a barcode label on the back cover, a spine label, and clear spine tape.
Series missing include: Owl Diaries, Dragon Masters, Diary of a Pug, Magic Puppy, Magic Kitten, Unicorn Diaries, Puppy Place, and Itty Bitty Princess Kitty.
Our students love these paperbacks!
