Northridge Library Books & Policies
Return Your Library Books!
It's never too late to turn in Northridge Library books -- even if you borrowed them during a previous school year! Books may be turned into the school office whenever the office is open.
If you have any questions about your student's library account, please email me at melani.wilkie@sanjuan.edu
Thank you for helping your student be a responsible library patron!
Lost or Damaged Books
If a book is LOST and cannot be found and returned, or if the book is damaged beyond repair while checked out to a student, a fine equal to the cost of the book will be due. This type of fine may be paid in cash, in the office or in the library. This fine stays on a student's record until it is paid. At Northridge, replacement of the book with a new copy is also allowed and encouraged. This policy is in place to help students recognize their responsibility and demonstrate respect for shared resources.
Northridge Book Checkout and Renewals:
Library visits take place weekly and each class visits for up to 30 minutes as a group.
Students in TK-1st grade check out books as a class each week, and all their library books stay in their classrooms. Students in these grades may individually borrow books with parent permission.
Students in grades 2 - 6 may check out one or more books, depending on their grade level and the number of lost or late books currently in their account.
Library books check out for one week at a time and may be renewed as many times as needed.
There are no late fees for books that are returned.

How can YOU help?
Please take special care of school library books, and return them in a timely manner!
Library books are accepted at any San Juan Unified school site, no matter how overdue they may be.
We also happily accept donations of new or nearly new children's books!

Appreciation
We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks for all of the support we have received from the community over past years.
Donations include generous support from the Fair Oaks Rotary, Debra Price and Bruce Hagel, Lindsay Dilloway and family, Ruby's Books, Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church, retired teacher Marci Ortega, and the Northridge Elementary PTA.
Northridge is also the recipient of a Carson Scholarship Fund Reading Room, established in 2014, which offers fun and interesting reading materials at every visit. This area of our library contains books that do not check out, to ensure they are always available for anyone to browse.
