Thank you for a fabulous opening of the school year! We are so proud of our students for being in uniform and following our JROB Guidelines for Success. Thank you parents & guardians for getting students to school on time and picking them up promptly at dismissal.

As we head into September, one of the most important parts of school is building classroom and school community. The social-emotional contexts in which we learn and the connections that we make with our peers, our teachers, our rec aides, our custodians, our office support staff, our librarian and everyone in between impact the learning that happens at school everyday. In Professor Mary Helen Immordino-Yang's work at the USC Brain and Creativity Institute, she explains the research and neuroscience behind how our social-emotional brain and biological selves are interconnected. At the very basic human level, our need for connection and belonging is crucial for learning to take place.

This year, one of our school goals is to partner with parents and community and strengthen the connection between home and school. We hope to do this through parent workshops, coffee with the principals, and community events. Please consider joining us in this partnership by becoming a VIPS, attending our events, and reaching out to our teachers & staff!

This Labor Day weekend, take a minute to reflect and set your intentions for the year for yourself and your child. What are the hopes and dreams to you have for them and for their experience here at JROB? We hope you're able to come share your ideas with us at our upcoming school events and parent meetings.

Join us at our first Coffee with the Principal on Thursday, September 14th at 8:00am, right after drop off. After the presentation, we will have staff available to walk you through your technology needs.

JROB is pleased to have our middle school Wellness Center open 5 days a week with the support of our Wellness Center Social Worker, Mrs. Luna. Check out the message and calendar below for what she has in store for our middle school students in September.

Welcome back JROB scholars! I am Mrs. Luna your new Robinson Middle School Wellness Center Social Worker. We will have all sorts of fun and exciting Wellness themed events, workshops and activities planned throughout the school year. Stop by our new location in room 25103. I look forward to getting to know each of you. Please remember the Robinson Wellness Center can also assist with the following:

• Individual/group short term counseling
• Parent/community events
• Community referrals
• Family food pantry & basic needs
• Mental health/Wellness events & workshops

Thank you parents for continuing to help us enforce our cell phone policy. We have seen more engagement and cooperation from our students in classes and less conflict amongst peers. We appreciate your support as we work to ensure our students safety and engagement around cell phone use.

Thank you parents for supporting our uniform policy. This year we're encouraging all families to complete our Assistance League uniform request form to receive a set of free uniforms for your child. Stop by the office to fill out the form if you haven't already.

• Socks may not have inappropriate graphics including weapons, and/or drugs and alcohol imagery.
• Tennis shoes (preferred)

• No sandals (no open toes or straps on the heel) For example: Crocs
• No high heels or hard sole boots
