Dear Hayshire Families,

Today marks the midpoint for the 24-25 school year! It's hard to believe that we are moving into the second half of the school year. Lots of learning and fun to come!

For the month of January, our special teachers and specialists had the honor of selecting Hayshire Students of the Month. Congratulations to Ananiah Fabie from second grade and Nolan Huynh from third grade for receiving this recognition. Both children demonstrate values such as perseverance, character, community, accountability, and excellence! Ananiah and Nolan were recognized at Monday's school board meeting.

Make sure to save the date! Family Game Night is scheduled for Friday, January 24 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Bring your favorite board games! We'll have hot chocolate and cookies!

Mrs. Wiltshire, Hayshire's School Counselor, has been presenting classroom lessons on the Green Circle. The Green Circle promotes self-control, self and inter-group awareness, understanding and cooperation while enhancing self-esteem. Green represent growth. Just like things in nature. The circles represent your social world beginning with yourself. By showing others caring, sharing, and respect, the circles grow to include family, friends, and community, nation, and world!

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is observed on Monday, January 20. There is no school for students!

Central York Communities That Care is hosting the annual Sweetheart Spaghetti Dinner at Hayshire Elementary. The dinner will take place on Saturday, February 8 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Tickets are limited! It's a family-friendly event designed to build community!

The CYSD Diversity Celebration is being held on February 12 from 6:00-8:00 at the HS. This event is a chance to highlight the unique experiences, perspectives, and cultures within our community. The event will feature school and community tables to explore, a selection of international treats to enjoy, and a special presentation beginning at 7:15 PM, where students and staff will have the opportunity to share "their story" through a variety of formats, including performances and spoken word.

This year, the Diversity Celebration Committee is seeking more involvement from students and staff in the K-6 buildings to participate in the celebration by sharing their stories, artwork, and other talents in the celebration of diversity and inclusion. Students and staff can write a story about their specific culture, family traditions, journey to Central, their native language, and learning English as a second language. Participants can read their own stories or choose someone else to read. In addition, students and staff can present their culture-related artwork, songs, and/or dances at the celebration.

• Thank you to everyone who attended our last PTO meeting! Our next official meeting day is February 6 at 6:00 pm in the library. Once again, PTO will provide child care during the meeting. We can’t wait to see you!

The protection plan fully covers your child’s device for any accidental damage that occurs. The cost is $25 per year for iPads and $60 per year for Macbooks.
