Spencer’s Family Airborne Night Fundraiser is coming up on Wednesday, November 20th from 6-8pm! It’s a fun night for the kids to jump with their friends, get out some energy AND have a chance to play dodgeball against some of the AMAZING Spencer staff! We can’t wait to see you there. Please check out the flyer below for more info and to order your jump passes in advance!
*The PTO could use your help! We are assisting staff with HOUSES preparations this year, and we have snowmen circles that need to be cut for the December session. If you’d be willing to take a small stack to work on at home, please message or email me (spencerroadpto@gmail.com), and I will get you some copies! Thank you in advance for your support! -Tiffanie

*BRIGHTON FORD WINDOW PAINTING All Brighton area elementary schools are invited by Brighton Ford to paint their showroom windows for the holidays! Spencer's night is December 3rd from 4:00-6:00, and we’d like to show this repeat school sponsor of ours some Spencer love! While the event is open to all students, we have to limit the participation to a small number in different time slots to make sure there is room for everyone. Please sign up for a time slot if your student would like to participate:

*LOST AND FOUND
The lost and found is overflowing! Please stop by to check for items or have your student take a look. Items with names on them have been being returned to classrooms. But there are many items with no name. All items with no names still remaining in the lost and found on November 22nd will be donated over Thanksgiving Break. Thanks for your help with getting these items back to their owners!
Counselor's Corner
Hello from your Spencer School Counselor, Mrs. McKiddy! I am absolutely thrilled to have visited so many classrooms again during the month of October. For the month of November, I plan to connect with students in their classes to work on Growth Mindset and Grit! We will talk about this positive way to approach challenges and practice our skills as we learn to continue working through productive struggle. This lesson will include activities to practice and phrases to use to help us grow with the Power of Yet! Thank you for your continued support at home to encourage our young learners with this important life lesson.
Lets Connect: If you are noticing some behaviors that are interfering with your child’s success in the classroom, please feel free to complete my parent referral form and we can work together to determine if supports are needed at school.
More Resources: The Elementary Counseling Team also has the BAS Elementary Counseling (New Updates!) website for ideas and resources to be used at home!

BAS Mental Health & Wellness
As a district, it is our mission to provide a rigorous, meaningful, and well-rounded education that will inspire each student to achieve their personal best. BAS believes that each student and staff member can reach their full potential when challenged to do their best, with an open mind, and with an unwavering commitment to personal growth.
We continue to increase our efforts to support each person's mental health and wellness with resources, time, and experiences. This information and much more can be found on the BAS Wellness & Mental Health website or download the app by typing in Brighton Area Schools on iTunes or Google Play.
The McKinney Vento Act
The Brighton Area Schools is part of a consortium to serve students in temporary living situations that
provides financial support for educational needs, referral for housing, clothing and other needs, general
support and technical assistance. To ensure compliance with federal law, all school staff must help
identify students living in the following situations: emergency shelters/transitional housing,
motels/hotels, car, parks or public spaces, shared housing due to a loss of housing or economic
hardship, or living temporarily with non-parent or guardian.
The district’s homeless liaison is Starr Acromite and each building has trained staff members to assist in the endeavor. Our consortium contact at the Livingston Educational Service Agency is Candice Olrich.
Please contact your building principal or Starr Acromite at 810-299-4040 for information/assistance.
Just In Case Clothes
Parents - Please make sure you pack a change of clothes (that are weather appropriate) in your child's backpack EVERY DAY. This is for ALL students, grades JK-4th, you never know when your student may have a nosebleed, or loose a tooth, or spill food/milk on their shirt, or find a mud puddle outside, or have a bathroom accident. If your student keeps a change of clothing in their backpack, then we can take care of it here, otherwise we need you to bring up a change of clothes. Thank you for your cooperation.
