Scholastic Book Fair
The Scholastic book fair will be open during conferences in the Media Center.
This is a fundraiser to help the library purchase new books. It also pays for our subscription to BookFlix.
Open hours:
November 6th: 4:00 PM - 7:45 PM
November 7th: 12:00 PM - 7:30 PM
(If you have the last conference slot, please note that the fair will be closed when your conference is over at 8:00 PM. This is to allow time to clean up!)
What is WIN Time?
WIN (What I need) Time is part of our core instruction and designed to support all students. Grade levels have a 30 minute WIN Time built into the daily schedule in Kindergarten-Grade 5. WIN Time ensures there is dedicated time in the daily schedule for flexible grouping of students to receive reading interventions, small group instruction, and/or time for independent practice of reading skills. Students may rotate between small group instruction and independent practice during WIN Time (i.e. WIN Rotations).
Who will be teaching students during Win Time?
Classroom teachers, Interventionists, Special Education teachers, English Language Development teachers, and our Talent Development Teacher will assist in delivering reading interventions and/or small group instruction.
What will students do during WIN Time?
Students will have the opportunity to practice grade level literacy skills during our WIN Time and some students will participate in a reading intervention group with their teacher or reading interventionist. Other students will work independently practicing literacy skills in reading/writing or in literacy centers.
How are students grouped during WIN Time?
Each grade level is using fall literacy assessment screening data to determine student needs during WIN Time. Flexible grouping of students will be reviewed in 6-8 week cycles throughout the school year and regular progress monitoring will inform student growth and next steps for instruction.

PTO Updates
Read-a-thon Updates
Please encourage your student to continue to log their reading minutes and track their progress in Pledgestar or on their reading sheet. Additionally, Pledgestar can make donation requests a breeze, and help us reach our fundraising goals!
We’re thrilled to introduce a new read-a-thon prize! From all students that meet their reading goal (200 minutes for K-2, 250 minutes 3-5), one student from grades K-2 and one from grades 3-5 will be drawn at the end of the Read-a-Thon to win a special lunch with Mrs. Garcia and Mr. Zick from Culver's—plus, they can bring a friend along! This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate their reading achievements, so let’s keep those minutes coming!
Thank you for your continued support in making this fundraiser a success for the entire Parkview community. Happy reading!
Trunk or Treat
Also, a friendly reminder that our Trunk-or-Treat event is happening this Saturday, October 26th, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. It promises to be a fun evening for our community! If you are looking to help out, we're looking for candy donations which can be dropped off at the front office by Friday. Please use the sign up genius to let us know you're helping.
Please join us for our next PTO meeting on November 12 at 7:00 PM. Watch for more information! Check out the new PTO Website here
