From The Principal's Desk
Greetings North Wales Families,
Happy Orthodox Easter! Last week we concluded PSSA testing. Last week we had our Party on The Playground, and this week we celebrate our teachers, staff and nurses! Our Girls On The Run Team, completed their 5k on Saturday.
We also have our annual plant sale this week. Students will be able to purchase plants this week and we will have a parent night, where our families can come and purchase plants.
To report absences and schedueled vacations, please use the School Messenger- the preferred method for parents/guardians to report their child's absence, tardiness, or early departure.
As always, we thank you so much for being a part of the North Wales family!
Warmly,
Ms. Kenney
Principal

Literacy Note Of The Week
DIVE INTO READING
Minutes are beginning to add up!. Some classrooms are moving along faster than others. Remember to read every night with your child. Even students in the older grades will benefit from reading to or with a parent. Here is a copy of the weekly reading log if you need a new one.
Students will receive a raffle ticket for every ten minutes they read throughout the week. These tickets are for chances to win one of the twenty-nine raffle baskets or the mystery box! Additionally, if our combined total of reading minutes is 150,000, North Wales’ staff will present the Second Annual Masked Singer during a school-wide assembly.

Cultural Highlights Of The Week
Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
Dr. Mabel Ping-Hua Lee
Suffragist who mobilized the Chinese community in America to support women’s right to vote. Mabel Lee was a suffragist who mobilized the Chinese community in America to support women’s right to vote. Because Chinese immigrants were not considered citizens, the ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920, which removed voting restrictions on the basis of sex, did not give Mabel the right to vote.
Jewish American Heritage Month
Betty Friedan
Born in Peoria, Illinois, Friedan was an American feminist writer and activist. A leading figure in the women’s movement in the United States, her 1963 book The Feminine Mystique is credited with sparking the second wave of American feminism.
Friedan co-founded and was the first president of the National Organization for Women (NOW), which aimed to bring women “into the mainstream of American society now [in] fully equal partnership with men.” She organized the nationwide Women’s Strike for Equality, which was successful beyond expectations, broadening the feminist movement. Friedan joined other leading feminists to establish the National Women’s Political Caucus, and was a strong supporter of the proposed Equal Rights Amendment to the United States Constitution.
