FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents
Easter
Easter this year falls during the holidays commencing with Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week and the final week of Lent. We reflect upon the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem, during which palm branches were placed in his path, before his arrest on Holy Thursday, his crucifixion on Good Friday and finally the celebration of our Risen Lord on Easter Sunday. In the last week of term, we will come together as a school community to reflect upon the Holy Week events. Parents and family members are very welcome to join us in our hall on Monday 7 April at 9am.
Harmony Day
Harmony Day celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity, including, respecting and appreciating the stories, traditions and cultures of all people who call Australia home. It is a day that provides all Australians, both young and old, with an opportunity to stand against racism, cultural intolerance and hatred. It is a day where Australia, as a nation, says: “Everyone is welcome. Everyone belongs.” The date of Harmony Day is also the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
Last week we celebrated Harmony Day at PCPS by wearing the colour orange, the official colour of Harmony Day, showing that we believe in an inclusive Australia where everyone is welcome and everyone belongs. Many children also wore clothes to represent their cultural heritage and they looked sensational!
Huge thanks to Mrs Bubnich who coordinated the assembly.
The children enjoyed a gelato during the day as part of Italian language program at PCPS and the staff celebrated their varying backgrounds with a cultural lunch.
Love PCPS
It is always wonderful to hear positive feedback from the school community. Thank you to those parents who have chatted with me or one of the Leadership Team recently and/or or sent an email about what they love about Padbury CPS or how their child is flourishing. I always love to hear good news stories!
Your support and praise of the school is very encouraging, thankyou so much. There is a lot to navigate in a school our size! I must say a big thankyou to all parents for your never-ending encouragement and ongoing support, it means a lot to the staff and Leadership Team.
Quality Catholic Education School Review
At the end of this term we have a Quality Catholic Education School Review (QCESR) taking place.
The QCESR provides an opportunity for a panel of educators, external to the school, to affirm and report on the improvement journey at the school.
As part of the process the panel will be meeting with the Principal, Leadership Team, a selection of staff, a selection of students, Parish Priest and nominees from the Advisory Council and P&F Executive.
At the conclusion of the QCESR Panel visit, a two-part report will be completed including comments on the school improvement processes, strategic direction and Principal’s leadership and professional growth/development.
Have a lovely weekend.

PASTORAL CARE
Congratulations
Congratulations to the Craig family (Rosie Yr1 and Susie PK) on the birth of their baby sister Kittie.
A baby girl is like a giggle wrapped in sunshine and glitter.
She will always brighten your day.
If a family would like to place a note in the Pastoral Care section of the newsletter in relation to a birth or death, or if a family would like the whole school community to pray for any special intentions e.g. a family member who is ill, please send a message to please let your child’s class teacher or Mrs Ellen at the front office know or send an email to admin@padcath.wa.edu.au
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Host and the Chalice
Please read the information below regarding the distribution of the Eucharist
Beginning on Easter Sunday, this year and every third weekend of the month thereafter; we are reintroducing communion under both kinds; Host and the Chalice. As you will remember, we had this practice until Covid-19 prohibited us to do so. Since Covid restrictions have been removed, we would like to offer this option to our parishioners once again.
Please refer to the DOTT points below as to the distribution of both the host and the chalice:
- Receiving from the chalice will be entirely optional for all parishioners. No obligation to receive from the chalice.
- Whilst not prohibited, all young people under eighteen years of age will need the support of their parents/care givers to partake in the chalice. It will be assumed that any young person approaching to receive from the chalice has had a discussion with their parent and or care givers.
- Intinction (dipping host in the chalice) will NOT be allowed.
- There will be NO chalice at school Masses; including Confirmation and FHC celebrations.
God Bless
Father Cyprian
Project Compassion
Just a quick reminder that all Project Compassion boxes must be returned to school no later than Thursday 10 April. P&F
Containers for Change
As mentioned late in 2024, our P&F is introducing a new ongoing fund-raising initiative that our PCPS community can all get involved in - Containers for Change.
Students are encouraged to put their eligible 10c containers in the Containers for Change bin, located in the amphitheatre, while at school. Student and Families can also donate their 10c containers to the P&F by:
* Scanning the P&F Barcode at Containers for Change return centres.
* Dropping their 10c containers in a bag with our Containers for Change number on it at a bag drop location.
* Bringing their containers to school and putting them in the Containers For Change bin.
Note: If students and families are already collecting them at home for themselves, please feel free to continue to do so.
All funds raised through the P&F account will be directly reinvested into our school community, supporting initiatives that benefit our children and enhance their school experience. These funds help bring key projects to life, such as improving school facilities, funding community events, and providing valuable resources that enrich learning and engagement. Every dollar raised makes a meaningful impact!

2025 Parent Volunteers - Get Involved in Something Great!
We’re looking for a few more enthusiastic and community-minded parents to help bring some of our key events to life! These roles are a great way to get involved, meet other parents, and make a real impact—plus, we’re all about teamwork to keep things manageable.
Here’s how you can help:
- Interschool Sausage Sizzle Lead – Love a good BBQ? This is your chance to coordinate one of our biggest (and tastiest) fundraisers for the school!
- Family Community Event 2026 (Family Fair) – Join the planning team for next year’s amazing Family Fair! With 3 out of 8 roles already filled, we’re keeping it a true team effort to spread the workload.
- Mother’s Day 2026 – A special event for all the wonderful mums in our community! Shadow Dan Sorgiovanni this year and learn the ropes for 2026.
- Term 2 & Term 3 Sausage Sizzle Support – Help keep this much-loved event running smoothly! We’re looking for someone to support Ann with cooking sausages and also someone to shadow her in preparation to take over the role when she steps off
If you’re interested in any of these roles or just want to learn more, reach out for a chat—we’d love to have you on board!
Car Bay - Term 2
Next term, the P&F Car Bay will be gifted to a family as part of our ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ initiative.
Do you know a family who could benefit from having exclusive use of the bay? Whether they’ve recently welcomed a new baby, are recovering from an injury, facing health challenges, or simply going through a tough time—this is our way of offering a little extra support.
If you’d like to nominate a family who could use this small but meaningful gesture, we’d love to hear from you!
Send your nominations to katie_scho@hotmail.com
New Ideas Welcome
Got a great idea for the school in 2026? We warmly welcome any new suggestions for fundraising, community building and education sessions for next year.
Are you passionate about environmental sustainability and making a difference in our school community?
We’re looking for individuals who share an interest in sustainability, waste reduction, and eco-friendly initiatives to connect with our CFC team. Whether you have ideas, expertise, or just a keen interest in supporting greener initiatives at our school, we’d love to hear from you!
If you have thoughts or suggestions on how we can make a positive environmental impact, please reach out—we’d love to collaborate!
Making a Real Impact - A Salute to our Community's Generosity!
Each donation is precious, and every donor is priceless. Together—individuals, groups, and businesses—we are building a brighter future for our school.
In 2024, we launched the PCPS Donations Portfolio, a dedicated initiative focused on building connections within our school and the wider community to seek contributions that support our school’s goals. The Donations Team plays a key role in engaging with local businesses, community leaders, and families, inviting them to contribute—whether through financial support, services, or goods—to help bring our projects and events to life.
Last year, thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, 100% of all hampers and raffle prizes were donated, helping us raise over $2,500. We were also fortunate to receive a generous donation from the Ienco family, who greatly contributed to the cost for the Mother’s Day event, and a very generous gift from Amity Psychology (Gallagher family), who donated a new BBQ for the P&F.
The 2025 Family Fair is a testament to the incredible generosity of our community. Thanks to the amazing support from local businesses and families, we have been able to run this as a free event for everyone to enjoy. From financial contributions to donated goods and services, this outpouring of support has made a huge impact, allowing us to create a memorable and inclusive event for our school community.
If you or someone you know—whether a local business, family, or individual—would like to support our school through donations of funds, services, or other contributions, we would love to hear from you! Please connect with a member of our Donations Team to explore how you can be part of making a lasting difference.

ADMINISTRATION
Mercy Medals
At Padbury Catholic Primary School we know that students learn best in an environment that is safe, welcoming and fun! Our Student Code of Conduct helps guide our children.
The staff at PCPS love to recognise children who are displaying our Mercy Values in their daily interactions - Service, Dignity, Compassion, Mercy, Justice, Stewardship, excellence, Hospitality, by providing them with a Mercy Medal in their faction colour.
The children place their medal in the tube in the amphitheatre and watch their Mercy medals grow over the term.
At the end of each term, the faction with the most medals will win the Medal of Mercy and the whole faction will receive a special reward together.

Extension Program
Synergy Solar Car Competition
As part of our Extension Program at Padbury Catholic Primary School, four of our Year 6 boys recently took on the challenge of the Northern Suburbs Solar Car Competition, competing against students from 24 schools. Their task was to build a solar-powered car in 40 minutes, test its performance, and race it in a heat to see how well it ran.
Despite the warm weather, the bright sun proved to be an advantage, giving their solar panels plenty of power! The boys performed brilliantly, demonstrating teamwork, problem-solving, and enthusiasm throughout the event. A real credit to them.
A huge thank you to Mrs Schutte who assisted with transport and supported the team on the day. Congratulations to Riaan, Elliot, Peter, and Steva on their success and fantastic effort!
A great day.
