FAITH ALLIANCE CHURCH
CONNECTION POINT NEWSLETTER
January 17, 2025
Greetings from Pastor John
We have a few more conversations to cover in the next few Sundays. This week we will be looking at Life giving conversations. That is, conversations that encourage. To encourage someone is to provide courage for them and to speak into their lives the truth and goodness of God. We will be looking through a few Scriptures but will begin in Hebrews 10:24-25, talking about encouragement toward one another.
Plan to stay after the service on Sunday for conversation, coffee & treats!
See you Sunday!
John

Family Discussion Starters
• In what ways was Jesus’ trial unfair?
•What made Jesus the perfect substitute for us?
Because we have been forgiven of our sin, we cast aside guilt and shame when we sin and instead repent with assurance that we are always loved and accepted by God
• HEAD: If Jesus suffered without sinning, how are we to try to endure our present sufferings?
• HEART: Knowing Jesus suffered unjustly, how can we thank Him for His desire to do the Father’s will in enduring suffering and dying for us?
• HANDS: Knowing Jesus has taken away our enslavement to sin, with whom can we share this good news for their salvation also?
Family Activities
Choose and make a recipe in which a substitution can be made, such as unsweetened applesauce for vegetable oil in brownies. When the food is ready, lead the family to taste it and discuss whether the new ingredient was a good substitution. Remind kids that Jesus was the perfect substitution for us because He took our punishment and He offers us new life.
VOICES from CHURCH HISTORY
“Surely corruption is ingrained in our hearts,
interwoven with our very natures, has sunk
deep into our souls and will never be cured
but by a miracle of grace.”
–Thomas Boston (1676–1732)
