- Go apple picking at one of these three nearby orchards. Drink apple cider and bring home your favorite apple baked goods. Hillcrest Orchards hosts the Apple Pickin' Jubilee on fall weekends September 8 through October 28, 2018. In addition to apple picking, enjoy a petting zoo, wagon rides, festival food and more.
- Go Pumpkin Patching. Pick the perfect pumpkin. Most local pumpkin patches offer hayrides and yummy pumpkin-flavored goods.
- See beautiful fall foliage. Take a day trip to North Georgia and zip line through the trees with North Georgia Canopy Tours or take a tour on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. If you're sticking around town, here is where to find fall color in Atlanta.
- Navigate through a corn maze. There are several local farms with a corn maze, where you can also enjoy a hayride, popcorn pillow jump, corn box, pony rides and more. You can also head to Watkinsville and visit Washington Farms for a Peanuts-themed maze. If you make it out to Hillcrest for apple picking or North Georgia for fall foliage (and Burt's Pumpkin Patch), check out Lee Anderson's or Buck's Corn Maze. Check the websites -- a few of these locations host haunted mazes at night.

Fall favorites include Sunday in the Park at Oakland, Capturing the Spirit of Oakland Halloween Tours, The Harvest Hunt (a post-Thanksgiving self-guided scavenger hunt), A Victorian Holiday at Oakland Cemetery and more.
- Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos). Oct. 28 is free admission day at Atlanta History Center. Visitors of all ages can experience a Day of the Dead Festival with storytelling, crafts, Mexican food and entertainment. Bring your own pumpkin to recycle through fun methods such as the pumpkin cannon, pumpkin bowling, the hammer smash and the 40-foot crane pumpkin drop. You can even pay to ride in a monster truck. There will be monster trucks crushing pumpkins (and cars), pumpkin archery, reverse pumpkin darts and more. Admission is $15 and can be purchased online.
