A Note from the Principal
Dear Fairview Community,
What an incredible week we've had at Fairview High School! From the beautiful sounds of our Choir singing to me on my birthday, to a wonderful Coffee with the Principal session where we discussed exciting Grad+ opportunities, this week has been full of special moments. For reference, here’s a link to the slides Vanessa Carroll presented.
A particular highlight was our thrilling basketball rivalry game against Boulder High School. I am immensely proud of our students for making the event both memorable and exciting, while ensuring it remained a safe and respectful experience for our Fairview Knights community. Bravo to all involved!
I’d also like to remind everyone that the Winter Dance scheduled for tonight has been cancelled due to weather conditions.
As we look forward to the long weekend, I hope you all enjoy your Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.
In honor of the day, I leave you with this quote from Dr. King:
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
Wishing you all a restful and reflective holiday.
Warm regards,
Dr. Scarlet Chopin
Principal, Fairview High School

Fairview Special Education Knight of Transition
As the transition to high school looms large in the minds of 8th graders and their families, we know many questions arise! To best address those questions while continuing to provide our current students with our full attention, we have set aside an evening after the open enrollment window for students and their families to learn about special education services at Fairview. We encourage all families with questions about Fairview Special Education to attend this evening. This is the best opportunity to get information about special education at Fairview High School.
Please join us on Wednesday, 1/22/2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Fairview High School to learn more about our special education services.
College Planning Night for Juniors on 01/23/2025
College Planning Night for Juniors will take place from 6:30–7:30 PM in the Fairview High School Auditorium. This presentation will cover the timeline of the college search process, general information about applications, deadlines, and other considerations, the importance of finding the right college fit, and what to expect in senior year regarding the college admissions process. We encourage all Fairview juniors and their parents/guardians to attend this important in-person event. Spanish interpretation services will be available that night. Please note that this event will not be recorded or live-streamed, but the slideshow will be available on the website after the presentation.

Winter Assembly: Celebrating Our Knights and Building Community!
This morning's Winter Assembly was a fantastic celebration of all our Knights' hard work last semester and a chance to come together as a community for some fun! The assembly featured incredible energy from our Fairview Cheer team, shout-outs to the fall sports teams for their successful seasons, and recognition of our National Merit Semifinalists.
Students enjoyed activities like "Pop the Balloon," "Hot Wings Trivia," "Eat It or Wear It," a snowball fight, a half-court shot challenge, and class chants. The Fairview Choir also delivered an amazing performance. Thank you to everyone who participated and made the assembly a memorable event!

Important Reminder for Attendance Calls
To help speed up the attendance process and avoid automated calls, kindly spell your student's last name and use their formal name (not a nickname), as this is what is recorded in our system.
Additionally, when excusing your student for an appointment, please include the period they will be leaving and whether they will be returning.
Please note that all calls and emails are reviewed on a case-by-case basis by our attendance staff, and it may take up to 48 hours for your call to be addressed.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to address every request in a timely manner.

Reduce Emissions - Turn off Your Car While Waiting
BVSD buses turn off instead of idling while waiting for students. You can too! Because vehicle idling is a significant source of air pollution, BVSD has an operating procedure that prohibits buses and transportation support vehicles from idling for more than 5 minutes within any given 1 hour period.* Although it is tempting to keep cars and buses running, especially during colder weather, please turn off vehicles while waiting to pick up students. (*An exception to this is Food Service vehicles with refrigeration that need to remain on to maintain food quality).
Learn more about BVSD’s sustainability efforts on our greenBVSD webpage.
