Abernethy's Read Across America Day will be celebrated Thursday, Maerch 7th!

Students are meeting up with their Buddy classrooms in the Auditorium for some fun reading through all the regions of the US!

Your student will be previewing the Scholastic Book Fair when they go to their first library class during the week of March 11. They will have the opportunity to create a short wish list with the help of a parent volunteer, Mrs. Jamsgard, our Library Assistant or their classroom teacher during this time. You and your child can talk over the list they made when the wish list comes home Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday of that week depending on the day your child has their library class.

It's an option to send money (cash, check, credit card, ewallet) as it suits your family. Students will get a chance to make a purchase all week long, either when they are with our librarians during the specialist times or as it suits teachers around their class schedule. Friday, March 15 will be the last day to make in person purchases. Online shopping is available through Sunday, March 24. Our desire is to promote and encourage reading and not to disrupt Abernethy's learning schedule.

Ms. Nowak, our librarian, has set up an e-wallet if you wish to make a donation to the book fair. These donations will be used by Abernethy's 'Book Fairy' to fund books for students in need and to assist a child who may be short a $1 or so to get the book they want. Any money left over will be used to purchase books for the school library. Use the link provided if you want to make a donation. Thank you for supporting our children in becoming lifelong readers!

We are looking forward to seeing all incoming Abernethy Kindergarten students tomorrow night, Thursday - March 7th, from 5:30 - 7:00 for Connect to Kindergarten!

We will meet in the auditorium at 5:30 for some general introductions and information and then have a tour of the school and time in the kindergarten classrooms.

Classified staff are absolutely invaluable in keeping our schools safe and functioning. They are often found behind the scenes, supporting learning, getting kids to and from school, serving nutritious meals, maintaining buildings and keeping offices running smoothly. There is not one thing that can happen within our schools without the help and support and all the hard work of our classified employees. Please help us in celebrating our classified employees throughout the week of March 4th - March 8th!
