39 Students Earn "Seal of Biliteracy"
39 seniors have earned their Seal of Biliteracy this year! These students all took a test that proved they can read, write, listen, and speak in a second language. The information below is paraphrased from OSPI states 'The Washington State Seal of Biliteracy (RCW 28A.300.575, WAC 392-410-350) was established in 2014 with the intent to recognize public high school graduates who have attained an intermediate-mid proficiency in English and one or more world languages, including American Sign Language and Tribal languages. Students in all Graduation Pathways are eligible to earn the Seal. Our students who earned the Seal have a notation on their high school diploma and high school transcript indicating that the student has earned the Seal.'
Turf Construction Underway for 2024 Sports
Quil Ceda Stadium turf construction update! The old turf has been rolled up, and a construction crew is preparing the base for the new turf.
The fields at MPHS and MGHS were last replaced in 2010. Each has a lifespan of 8-10 years. These fields are no longer safe to play on and must be replaced for the district to safely and legally offer sports in the 2024-2025 school year.
Stay tuned for more progress photos!
Legacy Recognizes School Mural Donation at Assembly
This is a collaborative artwork made of fused glass. Each black glass square has a design of compatible glass stacked on top. The glass tile is adhered to a piece of black Masonite. The black Masonite is screwed onto black plywood. Names are written in calligraphy and laminated.
- Glass artist Janet Foley donated the special fusing glass and lesson visuals for this project.
- Carol Dougherty carefully fired each glass square in her home kiln so the glass designs would fuse together.
- Legacy students and staff designed and created each glass tile.
- Cathy Tanasse gathered, organized, labeled and finished the mural.
- Marysville School District maintenance staff assisted with installation.
- Marysville School District CTE Industrial Art Program supported this project.
MPHS Spring Art Festival
Marysville Pilchuck High School held their Spring Art Festival and Ceramics Exhibit May 30th followed by a spring band concert. Students' art work was on display the 29th and 30th and visitors had the opportunity the afternoon of the 30th and go to the concert. A great opportunity for art and music for the community and the students!
