A Message From Your Principal
Dear Eames Way Families,
Last week we had a wonderful week full of learning, fun, and special guests! We'd like to extend a huge thank you to Nicolas Roht, a former Eames Way student and now a high school freshman, who visited during student lunches to share about Project 351 and his incredible food drive. We are so proud to see Nicolas continuing to lead and inspire others!
Our kindergartners had a blast learning about the weather with Meteorologist Bryce Williams from NOAA. Thank you, Bryce, for sharing your knowledge and sparking curiosity about the skies above!
Friday was another festive and fun day for our school community. We also want to give a special shout-out to Mrs. Clancy for organizing another fantastic Scholastic Book Fair. We hope everyone found some great new books to enjoy!
This week, we look forward to even more excitement with spirit days to show our school pride, wonderful music concerts where our students will shine, and a special Lunch Around the World presentation to explore ALASKA! We look forward to wrapping up 2024 with joy, learning, and celebration! Have a great week!
Warm regards,
Ms. Bishop
Principal

Spotlight On Writing: Eames Way Student Journalists
In our efforts to increase opportunities for student voice at Eames Way School, we have enlisted the writing talents of our 4th and 5th graders to create original articles for our weekly newsletter publications! This opportunity is on a voluntary basis from students and a great way for them to share their experiences at EWS in a unique way. Thank you to last week's student journalists, Rory Cabral (Grade 5) and Hazel Biagini (Grade 4), for going above and beyond to create and submit this week's publications!
"Interview With Mrs. Clancy" by Rory Cabral, Grade 5
My name is Rory Cabral and this week I interviewed Mrs. Clancy, our librarian, and asked her about our scholastic book fair! The bookfair is a fundraiser for our library so anything you buy at our book fair will donate to our library. She also told me that the most popular books were the new Dog Man, Wicked, and Swimming with the Spies. On the first day of the book fair Swimming with the Spies was all sold out! The books I chose to get were Odder and Something Like Home. I also chose to get a chocolate calculator to give to my sister Maeve for Christmas!
This year's theme was Candyland. which was chosen by a student at Eames Way. Every year a student at Eames Way selects the theme and last year the theme was Winter Wonderland and students helped make paper snowflakes to hang down from the ceiling! Another popular book some of the students wanted was the Taylor Swift book. At the Scholastic Book Fair, there were also notebooks, pens, erasers, bookmarks, and much more! The most sold-out toy was the chocolate calculator, and it smells like chocolate! At the book fair there were many different posters like the stitch poster, sport posters, and so much more. The book fair was December 9th - 13th, and almost every student at EWS bought a book this year! We are very grateful for Scholastic to be kind enough to help us with the fundraiser for our school’s library!
"The Eames Way School Scholastic Book Fair" by Hazel Biagini, Grade 4
Kids at Eames Way have been really excited this week because the Scholastic Book Fair is finally happening. Kids have been excitedly talking about going to the Book Fair for weeks because it’s always a great experience and students at EWS love books. Almost every student got a book and some books were even sold out! Dogman was the most popular but the ones that sold out the fastest were Swimming with Spies and Wicked.
The theme was “Candy Land” and it was very colorful. Students decorated posters with candy canes and there were colorful rectangles and squares so that the floor looked like the game “Candy Land”. The doorways had pink streamers on them and the book shelves were covered in posters and there were colorful balloons in an arch. The words “Candy Land” were on Mrs. Clancy’s screen and there were a lot of new books for kids to choose.
I chose a new Babysitters Club book and a graphic novel which I am excited to read. I am excited to see what Mrs. Clancy does next year as a theme and I also look forward to reading my new books. Fun Fact: Some students have already finished their brand new books so maybe we should have another Book Fair even sooner!

Nurse Update - Healthy Holiday Season!
Here are a few tips to stay healthy and stop the spread of germs this holiday season:
Practice hand hygiene frequently with soap and water or hand sanitizer.
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue. If a tissue is not available, cover them with an elbow, not a hand.
Clean high-touch surfaces in your home frequently with household disinfectants.
Keep your child home from school if they have a fever, especially in combination with a cough, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, congestion, runny nose, or sore throat. They should remain home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications.
Avoid social gatherings if you or your children are ill.
Proper handwashing, nutrition, adequate hydration, and regular sleep are the best ways to prevent illness. These strategies also shorten the duration of an illness.
Helpful tips for students to be successful at school:
Healthy Snack: Please pack a healthy snack EVERY DAY. Great snacks include easy-to-eat fruits and veggies like apples, oranges, carrots, and cucumbers as well as whole grain snacks including granola bars, and crackers. Cheese sticks and yogurts are another great option. These ideas help keep hungry bellies at bay and students ready to learn!
Water Bottle; Have your child bring a water bottle to school EVERY DAY. The students have access to the bottle fillers and can refill their water bottles as needed throughout the day.
Proper Sleep: “Sleep is the power source that recharges students during the night so they can thrive during the day.” (American Academy of Sleep Medicine)
Cold Weather Gear: We want to be able to send students outside for as long as possible despite the chilly temps. Please be sure students dress in layers for school- they need proper weather gear for outdoor play even when the inside temperature is warm. If students do not have appropriate weather/snow gear their outside activities may be somewhat limited so they stay warm and safe.
If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at 781-834-5090 x44500 or email me at awhite@mpsd.org
