CELEBRATIONS
Great things are happening at WCS!
Ms. Gibbs' class traveled to Triple J Therapy Horse Farm in Bowdoin to participate in "Deck the Stalls," a competition for best decorated horse stall. The class created seasonal stall decorations for Izzy the horse. They went with a gingerbread theme and built a 5 foot tall gingerbread man and lolly pops out of cardboard. The students used lights and garland to complete the look. Ms. Gibbs' class has been visiting the farm this year to learn how to ride and care for the therapy horses there.
MIDDLE SCHOOL DANCE: 12/6
The Student Leadership Team would like to invite the entire WCS Middle School to the Winter Wonderland dance TONIGHT from 6:30 - 8:30PM. This will be a semi-formal event (no pajamas, sweatpants, or slippers.) The entry cost will be $3 with snacks available to purchase, ranging in price from $1-$3. All proceeds will go toward the purchase of a new Gaga Ball Pit on the playground.
CANCELATION INFO
Weather related one or two-hour delays and closures will always be communicated on the district website, as well as on the morning news on WCSH 6, WMTW 8, & WGME 13. Guardians will also receive an automated call & email from the RSU 1 Central Office.
- If there is a two-hour delay, there will be NO Pre-K.
- If there is ANY delay on a late start Wednesday, there will be NO Pre-K, due to their already shortened school day.
COATS FOR KIDS
This week we received a generous donation of brand new, youth-sized winter coats from the Knights of Columbus Council #249, located at St. Mary's Church in Bath. We are grateful for this gift, and for the reminder of how much the Midcoast community cares about our young people! These coats will be put to good use!
BLANKET NOTE
Mrs. Keefe's class has filled The "Warm and Fuzzy" Jar! This classroom reward system allows students to collectively celebrate each other's acts of kindness and accomplishments. Every time the jar is filled, the class gets to choose a way to celebrate as a group. This time they opted to make blanket forts to use during their independent reading time. Well done, third grade!
BASKETBALL SEASON HEATS UP!
Things to Talk About
- Now that it's getting colder, please remember to send in your student with appropriate outdoor clothing. We will be outside almost everyday for movement breaks and recess, and we want everyone to be safe and comfortable. We have a great selection of beautiful hand-made hats and mittens that are available to students for free (courtesy of the Witty Knitters of Bath.) Let your teacher know if your student could use something new to keep them warm!
- Join us December 17th at 6pm for the WCS Winter Tree Lighting event, hosted by the PTA! We will share cocoa, cookies, pizza, and some carols as we usher in the holiday season!
