Our Lady of the Rosary School: June 9-16, 2024
School's Mission Statement
We at Our Lady of the Rosary along with our parents, exist to serve God through educating and nurturing the whole child. We will be held accountable for our faith and loyalty through consistency, leadership, and service to Christ. Our goal as a community is to academically challenge our students and to instill a sense of leadership, service, humility, and compassion.
Mrs. Reed's Retirement Announcement
It is with mixed emotions that we announce Mrs. Reed's retirement on June 30th. Mrs. Reed's hard work and dedication have been invaluable assets to the school's success. She has been working for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles since 1998. In 2012, she was hired at Our Lady of the Rosary School to start our lunch program. For many years, she cooked, purchased the food, and administered the lunch program. Then, during the pandemic, her role changed to grounds maintenance. Her willingness to go the extra mile to have a clean and orderly school demonstrated her dedication to excellence. I am incredibly grateful for her constant support in watching over our students, staff, and myself welfare and ensuring we all ate. Please join me in a retirement assembly to show Mrs. Reed our immense appreciation. The event will be held during the Award Ceremony on the school’s last day, Friday, June 14th. Everyone is welcome to share memories and well wishes as we celebrate Mrs. Reed’s well-deserved retirement.
Ms. French Goodbye
For the next school year, Ms. Julia French will not be returning to our school. She has decided to return home to North Carolina, where she will continue her passion for art weaving. She was a blessing to have at our school. While teaching our middle school students, she also coached soccer, trained the lectors, led the ARK religion test, and helped assist with the school's needs. She is a great role model for our students. We wish her the best in her future endeavors. I have been interviewing for this position and will announce who has been hired once they accept it.
Medieval Times
Dear School families,
We would like to acknowledge and appreciate the great support of this year's PTO. Your efforts have been instrumental in the success of our Pizza and Baked Sales. We also recognized that this could not be possible without the help of the rest of the school families who donated items, money, and/or time to make these sales a success. I hope that this memento continues for next year so that we can continue to provide an excellent educational experience.
God Bless,
Mrs. Rivas

Counseling Partners of Los Angeles (CPLA)
Once again, the school will be offering a comprehensive school-based counseling program and support services at no additional cost for this service. Parents, teachers, staff, or students themselves can request to see a counselor. An informed consent form needs to be signed by the parent/guardian to begin the process. A signed informed consent form is NOT a request/referral for counseling. However, getting the parental signature ahead of time speeds up the process for our counselors to begin providing counseling to our students.
This service will begin on Monday, September 9.

Unexcused Absences Policy
Please plan vacation days accordingly so students do not miss crucial learning. The school cannot be held accountable for grades that reflect a student who misses school consistently.
Attendance: Under Archdiocesan policy, a student absent fifteen (15) or more days in a quarter will not be issued a report card and must attend summer school. If a child is absent more than thirty (30) or more days during the school year, he or she will be retained in the same grade because you still need to meet the requirements for your grade. The County Board of Education requires principals to report the severance of attendance by any student.
Cell Phone Policy
CELL PHONE /ELECTRONIC USE: Our Lady of the Rosary School recognizes the importance of communication and collaboration and provides iPads for students to be productive in the classroom. To keep the focus on academics and to reduce unnecessary distractions, the school enforces the following:
Cell phones, smartwatches, and all mobile devices shall be TURNED OFF when entering the school campus
Cell phones, smartwatches, and all mobile devices shall be kept in a student’s backpack or – not in clothing pockets or desks.
Texting and videotaping are not permitted anytime during the school day.
Cell phones, smartwatches, and all mobile devices are not allowed to be used in a classroom, library, common areas, or restrooms.
Cell phones, smartwatches, and all mobile devices can be turned back on at the end of the school day at 3:15 and used to communicate directly with parents/friends who are assisting in transportation.
Cell phones, smartwatches, and all mobile devices are not allowed to be used during transition times or between classes.
School staff may confiscate cell phones and smart watches at any time being used or not used.
School staff may collect all students’ cell phones and lock them at any time.
If a student needs to make an emergency call during the day, they must come to the office.
The following are the consequences:
First offense...Any phone/device in view and on-site will be confiscated, logged, and securely held in the school's office until the end of the school day and may be picked up by the student.
Second offense...Any phone/device will be taken to the front office, logged, and must be picked up by a parent/guardian.
Third offense...Any phone/device will be taken to the front office and logged, and a meeting will be set up. This may result in the device being left in the front office daily or kept for a month.
Noncompliance with applicable regulations may result in suspension or termination of privileges and other disciplinary action consistent with the Archdiocese’s policies.
Mass Attendance Card for Tk-8
To encourage school families, the staff, and parish families to celebrate Sunday Mass as a community, the school will send a Sunday Mass Attendance Card to all our students.
Our school community believes "We are one body, one body in Christ."
Our Lady of the Rosary School believes we are one in Christ because Jesus died for us on the cross for our salvation. Scripture Romans 12:4-5. For as in one body, we have many parts, and all the parts do not have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ and individually parts of one another. We are all part of Jesus Christ's body as a school community. Therefore, we must gather as one body, worship him, and receive His Body on Sundays.
