Dressel Elementary School

Dressel Families,
This past week has filled with so many energy and exciting moments. On Monday, we welcomed our new students to Dressel. On Tuesday, the Class of 2037 had the opportunity to meet their Kindergarten teacher, drop of supplies, and go on a tour with our Dressel Student Ambassadors. Finally, our 1st through 5th grade students had a change to meet their teachers and connect with friends!
At the same time, our staff has been hard at work preparing for the school year. The final touches on hallways, in classrooms, and many other areas have been done to make it perfect for students.
Lastly, please be patient during arrival and dismissal. Most likely, all modes of transportation during dismissal will run behind for the first few days as we worked to get all students home safely.
We can't wait to welcome them all back on Tuesday, August 20th!
Here's what you'll find:

Arrival & Dismissal at Dressel
All families need to follow the procedures followed below for our arrival and dismissal procedures to work effectively and efficiently. This also allows everyone to get home safely.
Morning Arrival:
Doors will open at 8:35 am. Students who arrive by bus, will enter the building through the grade level wings. Students that come through the car line will enter through the playground doors. Walkers may enter through the grade level wings, main entrance, or the recess doors.
****For at least the first week, all Kindergarten students will enter through the exterior gym doors located across from the playground blacktop. This is so we can get all of them to their classrooms safely.
All children who are late to school after 8:45 a.m. will need to sign in at the office using the Welcome Window.
Morning Carline Drop Off:
The Dressel gates will open at 8:30 for car riders to enter and drive around the back of school. Staff will be there to greet students and direct vehicles. Please pull around to the recess doors and have your student(s) ready to exit the vehicle. Please follow the instructions of staff members.
Dismissal:
Car Riders:
We ask that all caregivers download the PikMyKid app, see the information below. This app allows you to check in and adds your child's name to our list. We also have a staff member outside to assist in this checking-in process. Caregivers that pick up will enter through the parking lot's main entrance and continue through the gate to around back. The gates will open at 3:20.
If your student is a Carline pick-up student, they will wait in the gym until their name is called. Caregivers do not get out of the car. We will have staff members walk your children out and to the cars after the car line stops moving.
Walkers/Bike Riders
If your student(s) plans to walk to school or ride a bike, please complete this form. It MUST be on file for Dressel to release your student through this line. We will also ID adults who are picking students up to ensure everyone's safety. Please come prepared.
*This process is slower the first few days as our youngest students learn the routine! Buses may also run late as they continue to learn their routes. We ask that you please be patient and not call the main office. We will send out notifications in the first few days to update families when buses leave the lot.
Car Riders and walkers will be dismissed at approximately 3:35 pm.
Bus riders will be walked to the bus by staff and be dismissed around 3:45.
Dismissal Changes:
It is imperative that you notify both the main office and your child’s teacher of any changes to your child’s dismissal arrangements. This can also be made in PikmyKid. Please ensure this notification is received by 3:10 PM. The main office experiences a significant increase in traffic beginning around 3:00 PM. We kindly request your patience during this busy period as we work to dismiss all students promptly. To expedite the dismissal process, we encourage you to avoid picking up your child directly from the main office except in extraordinary circumstances.
Car Riders need to have this displayed on their dash.
PikmyKid
Dressel uses the PikMyKid platform to improve the safety and efficiency of our pick-up process. Families will need to download the PikMyKid app on their cell phones. This free app can be found in the app store and will allow you to notify the school of pick-up changes, authorize others to pick-up your child from school, alert you when your child has been picked up or sent home on the bus, as well as help organize the car line during pick-up.
The registration process is easy. If you have not done so already, we ask that all families register with the phone application as soon as possible. Please make sure you register with your personal current mobile phone number or the app will not allow you to access your child’s information for security reasons.
If you do not think the school has your mobile number on file or if your child does not appear on your app’s home page, contact support@pikmykid.com after registration, with your child’s name, school, grade, and updated contact information for you.
Anyone who will be picking up your child should also register themselves with the application. Their screen will be blank and they will not have any authorization until you allow it within the app.
Nurse Stacy News

Please let me know if your child has a chronic health condition (Food Allergies, Asthma, Diabetes, ADHD, heart condition etc.) to ensure the health and safety during the school day. Any physicals, notes from specialists, doctor orders for treatments or medications should be submitted prior to the first day of school along with any action plans as applicable.
All medications necessary at school must be delivered to the nurse by an adult (not brought in with a student) and accompanied with a note from your child's health care provider.

Download FirstView App for Real-Time Bus Information

Download the FirstView app from the Apple or Google Play store
Click the yellow button that says “Tap here to add a new student”
Make sure the fields are set as follows:
State = “Missouri”
District = “Lindbergh SD”
Student Number = In this field, please enter your student’s 10-digit Student Number, which is located on the “Student Profile” page in Infinite Campus

A Message from the Nurse About Student Illness and COVID-19
As the school year is starting, the school nurses would like to send reminders regarding student illnesses, and when a student should stay home from school. The district’s Health Procedures webpage includes helpful information to determine whether your child should stay home from school due to illness. The district exclusion list has been updated to meet current recommendations.
If your child will be missing school, please remember to contact your child’s school to make them aware. Our school’s attendance line is 314-729-2485
Lindbergh Schools recommends reaching out to your health care provider if you have questions regarding COVID-19 exposure or illness. In addition, our district follows the COVID-19 Isolation and Precautions recommendations laid out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
As always, we are here to help and wish all of our families a safe and healthy school year. Thank you, and stay well.
Sincerely,
Jessica Franklin

2024-25 Student Board Representative Advisory Group - Apply Today!
Hello! My name is Lara Pimentel and I am serving as the Student Representative for Lindbergh’s Board of Education for the 2024-25 school year. Representing students from across our district is important to me because I want to ensure that students get a say in their education experience. That is why I am looking for students currently in grades 4-8 to participate in next year’s Student Board Representative Advisory group.
Each month, I will visit a different school in the district and talk to a small group of students. These short meetings take place during the school day for elementary schools, and directly after school for middle schools. In these meetings, I ask questions to the group of students and gather feedback regarding their experiences at Lindbergh. We look at what our schools are doing well and which areas could be improved upon.
From there, I share key information with the Board of Education and provide suggestions on ways to address student concerns.
So, if you are interested in representing your classmates, please fill out this form before Friday, Sept. 6!
