Peter Brown Author Visit Field Trip for Grades 2-5
Peter Brown field trip day is Monday! Beloved children's book author and illustrator Peter Brown will be visiting with Upper Arlington students in grades 2-5 on February 3, 2025! Brown is known for his bestselling books The Wild Robot, The Curious Garden, Mr. Tiger Goes Wild, illustrations for the Creepy Carrots series, and more. During this engaging event, Peter will share his creative process, discuss the journey behind his books, and reveal the inspiration for his whimsical characters.
All 2nd-5th grade students will travel to Upper Arlington High School for Brown’s presentation. Thanks to the Upper Arlington Public Library and the Upper Arlington Education Foundation for making this visit possible!
Coming Up in February on Good Morning Tremont
Good Morning Tremont (GMT) is Tremont Elementary School’s daily video announcement show featuring timely information for students and staff, as well as celebrations of classroom learning, community, and school events. GMT is hosted as “unlisted” on YouTube, viewable only though the link emailed to Tremont staff and families each school day. Throughout the school year, students have the opportunity to create content for GMT individually and as a class, in addition to being recognized as a part of school events.
During the month of February, be sure to watch for recognition of Black History Month, Valentine’s Day, President’s Day, Ramadan, and more! In addition, we are excited to feature takeovers from Mrs. Pavlofsky’s, Mrs. Ingram’s, Mrs. Downour’s, & Mrs. Brandenstein’s classes!
Decreasing Waste in the Cafeteria
You may have seen on GMT and heard from your kids that we have been working on decreasing the food waste in the cafeteria. We weighed the cafeteria garbage at the beginning of the year and found we produced about 188 pounds of trash every day at lunch time. Yes, 188 pounds every single day just at lunch! Thanks to a grant filled by both UA+Ed and Tremont's PTO, we are participating in a curbside food waste pickup program with The Compost Exchange this year. Since we have started the program, we have seen a 10% weekly decrease in the amount of garbage that is being produced in the cafeteria just by separating our food waste. If you are interested in helping us continue this success, we'd love some help in the cafeteria to collect the food waste! If you'd like to join us in celebrating the project, we will be at the UA+Ed Founders and Friends event on Thursday February 20 from 4:30-5:15pm at UAHS! Please email Shelly Bloom at sbloom@uaschools.org with any questions.
Aaron Reynolds Author Visit at Tremont for Grades K-5
On February 13th, 2025, Tremont favorite, author Aaron Reynolds will be visiting all students K-5! Aaron Reynolds is best known for his award-winning Creepy Carrots series, as well as Dude!, Nerdy Birdy, The Incredibly Dead Pets of Rex Dexter, and more! During his presentations, Aaron will share behind-the-scenes facts about his popular books, as well as what it’s really like to be an author.
Our school will not be holding a book sale in conjunction with Aaron’s visit. Instead, families may purchase copies of Aaron’s books from their favorite bookstore and send them to school to be signed by Aaron on visit day. If you’re interested in having an independently-purchased book signed by Aaron Reynolds, you are encouraged to make purchases soon and watch for further instructions and a signature slip to come home next week.
Thanks to our Tremont PTO and the Upper Arlington Education Foundation for making this school visit possible!
Valentine's Day Party Information
We are excited to celebrate Valentine’s Day with our classroom parties on Friday, February 14th at 2pm! It’s a wonderful time for students to share kind messages and enjoy fun activities.
As a reminder, no food or candy can be passed out as part of your child’s valentines. This will help us ensure a safe environment for all students, including those with allergies. Allergy-safe snacks will be provided during the parties, so everyone can enjoy the celebration worry-free.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work to make this a fun and inclusive event for all! ❤️

Dear parents of third grade students,
In December you received an email with information about how to access your child’s Fall 2024 Ohio’s State Test in English language arts via the PowerSchool Parent Portal. We have now received the printed family report that was mentioned in the email. Your child will be bringing this family report home in a sealed envelope on February 7. If you have any questions before then please reach out to your child’s teacher.
Sincerely,
